“As silly as it may sound, my initial visit with Dr. Davis was probably the best doctor’s visit I’ve ever made. This was the first time I felt like I was listened to and that my thoughts and concerns were heard. Even though my insurance doesn’t cover my visits with Dr. Davis, I am going to continue seeing her. Thank you for finally making me feel heard and for not brushing off any of my concerns and for being patient with me! ”

Getting to know Dr. Amelia Davis

I specialize in treatment of individuals with eating disorders and have over 10 years of experience working at residential eating disorder facilities as Chief of Psychiatry at Rosewood Ranch and Medical Director at The Meadows Ranch. I am a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS-C) with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and have a deep understanding and passion for helping those who suffer from eating disorders. As a physician psychiatrist, I have years of training and expertise in medicine and psychiatry. Why see a psychiatrist? Compared with Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), psychiatrists are Medical Doctors who have completed Medical School (4 years) and psychiatry residency (4 years) and have extensive and years of training in the medical and psychiatry field. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, complete approximately 6-7 years of bachelor's and master's level training, whereas psychiatrists complete approximately 12 years of rigorous training.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to psychiatric care is providing warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate, giving individuals space for you to feel understood and supported. I provide individualized treatment that is evidence-based and collaborate with individuals regarding their care, so that you feel included in your care and treatment towards mental wellness. I want to listen and hear your story, so that I can help you on your path towards mental and general wellbeing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Together, Dr. Davis will complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation and will review with you your medical, psychiatric, and family history, and discuss your symptoms and main concerns. Together, we will explore the option of medication and if needed, I will send prescriptions to your pharmacy or make referrals for additional treatments. I am also available for talk therapy, which are longer weekly or every other week 60 minute sessions. If you have further questions, consider scheduling a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. When you book an appointment, you will receive an email to set up a patient portal to complete patient forms prior to our visit.

Dr. Davis was lovely, kind, and professional. I've seen a few different psych providers in the past and none made me feel as easy and listened to as Dr. Davis. She is very personable and makes your time with her feel more like a friendly conversation, rather than a medical appointment. She took the time to get to know me, which was nice and appreciated. I very much look forward to our future meetings.
She is very attentive to my needs. She’s not a, “here’s a pill, now go away” Dr. She actually listens to me talk about how the medications affect my body. This includes being a co-pilot, not a dictator to seek the best possible outcomes. When I’m looking for a Doctor, I look for these attributes and she has them.
Dr. Davis is very relatable, kind, and she works with where you are at and what you need. She talks through multiple approaches with you and makes you a part of your therapeutic decision making which is super cool. Highly recommend!
