Welcome to a unique sanctuary of healing and growth. I am Dr. Patel, and I'm passionate about walking alongside my patients on their journey to mental well-being. With a rich tapestry of experience, I'm dedicated to tailoring an approach that feels right for you.
Over the years, I've had the privilege to explore deeply both the science and art of psychiatry. Before my training as a physician, I spent 5 years in drug discovery, so you can be sure every medication or supplement that's part of your care has been thoroughly investigated. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami and completed my residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center. With 30 years of living within the principles of Eastern philosophy and spirituality, in addition to my Western psychiatry training, you can be sure every alternative behavioral treatment is considered within your care. By harmonizing traditional psychiatric methodologies with the wisdom of ancient healing processes, I aim to provide a holistic healing experience. What should a new client know about working with you?
I operate on a patient first approach. You are the expert on your goals, your direction, and what might work for you, while I am the expert on what tools are available to help you get there. Every medication and every modality is a discussion that can always be adjusted to fit your specific needs. I will always be upfront on if rigid boundaries need to be set to push you, or if I feel you would benefit from a softer approach.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
At our initial appointment, we will open with a discussion of what the past few weeks have looked like in order to get an idea of what our starting place is.
We then move on to a discussion of your life and your history, including what your values have been and how they may have evolved. We'll also go into what treatments you've worked with before or what might not have worked for you.
We'll then work together to build a plan discussing how medication and non-medication approaches might work for you. We'll set forth your goals and ideals, and discuss any options you might be curious about.
At subsequent visits, we'll revisit how you're doing based on those goals we set and see how they might need to be adjusted.
