Getting to know Amy Pharr

PLEASE BE AWARE, while we accept many commercial insurances, WE DO NOT accept Medicaid or Medicare. If you have a BCBS policy that states OUT OF STATE EMERGENCY ONLY, WE DO NOT ACCEPT THAT POLICY. For all BCBS policies: we charge an initial copay of $129.00. Once BCBS settles, if applicable, we will reimburse you the same day. If the charge or copay is more, we will forgive the difference. This BCBS policy is because identifying network status and copay/deductible often requires over an hour on hold. As a small, family-owned practice, we lack the resources and manpower to wait on hold that long for every BCBS patient. WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE BENZODIAZEPINES such as Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, etc. East Coast Telepsychiatry is incorporated in South Carolina and Virginia. As Owner, Director, and Provider, Ms. Pharr is licensed and proud to serve patients in Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, and New York. She can also see patients in many other states via the National Nursing Compact, excluding Georgia, California, and Texas. Ms. Pharr holds a Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of South Alabama. PLEASE ENSURE WE ACCEPT YOUR INSURANCE BEFORE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. We do NOT accept Medicaid or Medicare. If your insurance is out of network, you are considered self-pay. We provide receipts that most patients can submit for reimbursement if their carrier permits (PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE FIRST). The mission of East Coast Telepsychiatry is to provide efficient, personalized care. We assess each patient's mental health and, if needed, select the best treatment methods to help you stabilize and begin healing. East Coast Telepsychiatry offers full psychiatric services including New Patient Evaluations, Assessments, Diagnoses, and individualized Treatment Programs, including medication management if necessary.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICAID. Also, WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE ANY BENZODIAZEPINES such as, but not limited to: xanax, klonopin, valium, etc. A new patient visit is generally 20-30 minutes on video depending on the situation and patient. However, the entire appointment process takes the provider anywhere from 60-75 minutes to review your intake prior to the appointment, complete the video visit and then complete a legal "Note" and then send the medication. The amount of time prior to and after the video visit is the most important part of the visit! Follow-up appointments are generally 10-15 minutes on video, with some being shorter and some longer, again depending on the situation. Ms. Pharr is accepting new patients and proudly serves SC, FL, VA, NY, and many other states. We do not practice in Georgia, California, or Texas. If you are "Out-of-Network", you are considered "SELF-PAY" and offered a discounted rate. Our goal is that you will receive personable and professional care at all times. We treat our patients as family and work to get you where you want and deserve to be. It is our job to provide you with a comfortable setting and truly address your needs. Our goal is to get you stable, strong and provide you with the tools and knowledge of how to maintain strong Mental Health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We provide a full evaluation and provide assessments during the intake process for new patient appointments. Our intake paperwork includes assessments that helps us identify common issues such as ADHD, Depression, PTSD and Bi-polar issues. Those results are reviewed with each patient and together we try to pinpoint areas in one's mental health that need addressed. We then provide a diagnosis and implement a treatment program that may or may not include medication management for the patient. WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE ANY BENZODIAZEPINES such as, but not limited to: xanax, klonopin, valium, etc. A new patient visit typically takes about 15 minutes for our staff to review and establish submitted paperwork, check PMP Awareness sights for medication histories, etc. The provider reviews your chart prior to your appointment, and then conducts the video visit, which averages anywhere from 20-30 minutes typically. Our goal is to get a person improved and then stable and strong. In the long term we hope to get people off of any and all medications. Obviously every patient is their own individual. Some people need long-term medication treatment, some need short-term and some need none. Our goal is to effectively treat someone with the correct medications, safe medications and medications that are non-addictive. If you are searching for drugs, are looking for unhealthy doses of adderall or benzodiazapines, this is NOT the practice for you. We do what is right by the patient, what is legal, and what is ethical, without variance.

Great doctor , listened and helped me out , highly recommended!

great listener! addressed my issues with a proper diagnosis

They operate through telehealth kareo for video visits which is nice. The policies they practice are problematic as they won’t refill non-controlled substance medications without an appointment which is very frustrating. They also only re-prescribe controlled substances every 30 days which causes very frustrating scheduling issues that impact my ability to have my prescriptions refilled in a timely manner. This is especially frustrating when prescribed medicines that have a “reset” associated (where there are significant side effects when a medication is not taken at a regular time each day).

I came to Amy with my known problems. She said I needed to be treated for other issues. I appreciate her expertise to help me make informed decisions. Amy didn’t consider my choice or opinion. I was truly shocked and had a very unpleasant experience. I’ve had effective treatment before and relocated so I was trying to renew my prescription. Amy was very rude and stubborn to the fact I wanted to prioritize the known problems and address her speculative concerns later.

Excellent experience from beginning to the end of the appointment. Amy was ready for my visit and had reviewed the questionnaires that I completed prior to the visit. The office manager was pleasant and knowledge

Amy is so kind and patient, she’s stuck with me on this journey to finding the right combination of medicine. She’s always on time if not early. She’s wonderful, highly recommend!
Verified patientVideo visit
Seemed a little quick to get me on meds. I would’ve liked a bit more conversation in order to feel my diagnosis was accurate, but she basically only went off my test results. First time meeting and already was ready to prescribe me something, which if that’s what you’re looking for then this might be the doctor for you, but I need conversation.
Video visit
Amy was SO awesome. I’ve been pushed from provider to provider lately and finally had to pay out of pocket but I’m so glad I did. She seemed to actually care, and didn’t make me feel worse like some others.
Verified patientVideo visit
She was direct to the point and got the job done
Verified patientVideo visit
Very quick tele-visit. Under 15 minutes. Felt a bit rushed honestly and felt like it was mostly a reading of results from the survey/questionnaire one takes when filling out start work. Will seek a second opinion.
Video visit
She was on time and very friendly. She listened well and explained what exactly everything meant. She provided me with options and told me exactly what to expect and the steps that I could also take to help.
Video visit
An absolutely sterling experience. Additionally, the office manager, Julissa, was such an incredibly helpful point of contact.

Amy and her husband were so lovely. Very sweet and communicative, and let me know information that I previously wasn’t aware of. She schedules my appointments for the next month during our session, and she’s sure to check on my with my medication. I adore her!
Verified patientVideo visit
Amy Pharr was rude and impatient. Her bedside manner was horrible. I should not be charged for the appointment with her. It was very brief because she could not help me. I truly think she is in this field just for the money. She has been arrested before (Google her). That should have been an indicator that she was not honest.

awesome!

Easy to make an appt. Dr. Was kind and considerate, answered questions. Just thought I would have more than 30 min on my first visit…Other than that I am pleased.

I am so incredibly thankful to Mrs. Amy & her team. I’ve been struggling a lot personally lately and couldn’t understand why. I honestly felt like I was going crazy some days. Through finding Mrs. Amy I was able to finally get a diagnosis & start the medication needed to balance me out. Mrs. Amy is very knowledgeable and will answer any of the questions you may have. Highly recommend her!
Video visit
Amy is very personable and understanding. She was very kind and spoke gently with my son and was able to make a clear diagnosis and responded promptly to me after our appointment when I had a question.
Verified patientVideo visit
She was more interested in filling out a form than answering my questions. She wasn’t particularly helpful or articulate. She did not create a comfortable environment to share. It felt like a waster of time and money.
Video visit
Amy was clear and concise about treatment plans and options for medications. She was welcome to any ideas or concerns I brought to the table.

Great experience all round dealing with Amy and her office, good communication, would highly recommend her to anyone seeking help.
