I am Dr. Anaheed Shirazi, a board-certified UCSD-trained adult psychiatrist, and a physician scientist based in San Diego. I provide holistic mental health care including medication management and psychotherapy to residents across California, both virtually and in person. My approach is integrative and supports sustainable changes that will help you live a more meaningful and fulfilling life amidst life's challenges.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I take a holistic approach to care, offering medication management, therapy, or a combination of both. I maintain a small patient panel so that sessions do not feel rushed and care remains attentive and individualized. We may be a good fit if you are open to engaging in therapy, reflecting on patterns, and making meaningful changes over time. This work can feel challenging at times, and a willingness to stay with the process matters.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
When you book your first appointment with me on Zocdoc, I will reach out to schedule a brief phone call beforehand. This phone consultation is free of charge and gives both of us a chance to consider whether the level and type of care I offer are appropriate and responsive to your needs at this time.
If we decide to move forward, the initial intake appointment will be up to 90 minutes. Follow up visits are typically 45 to 60 minutes and may include a combination of psychotherapy and medication management. If it does not feel like the right fit, you may cancel your appointment within 24 hours of booking at no charge.

I’ve chosen not to work directly with insurance companies, and I’m an out of network provider. This allows me to spend more time with you in each session, focus on what truly matters for your care, and have the flexibility to create a plan that’s fully tailored to your needs.
Many insurance providers cover a portion of the session fee, sometimes up to 70–80% of the allowable amount after your deductible has been met. If you have out-of-network coverage, I’m happy to provide a superbill. You can then submit the superbill via Reimbursify for possible reimbursements. This service will be free for you and helps simplify the reimbursement process.
