About Dr. Andjela Nemcevic
Dr. Andjela Nemcevic was born and raised in Serbia and became a professional tennis player, ranked on the WTA list at just 14 years old. She received a full athletic scholarship for Division I tennis at the University of Washington, where she completed a degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, earning the Academic All-American twice, and Recognition for Outstanding Athletic and Academic Performance.
Dr. Nemcevic graduated from the University of Miami Medical School as one of the top five students in her class, receiving AOA recognition. She completed a research fellowship at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology, focusing on wound healing, and earned additional research distinction for her contributions. She has published over 30 works and received the prestigious Drs. Carl and Barbara Alving Endowed Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biomedical Research.
After her internship at the UCF Orlando Program, Dr. Nemcevic trained at the dermatology department at NYU Langone Health, one of the top and most prestigious dermatology programs in the country. As a senior resident, she served as a cosmetic coordinator and participated in the Virtual Magic Wand Initiative at Harvard. She has volunteered at Yankee Stadium for free skin cancer screenings and collaborated with the CDC on tinea infections research.
Her favorite thing about dermatology is the breadth of conditions dermatologists treat and the ability to improve someone’s quality of life. She enjoys everything from skin checks and cancer screenings, to treating acne, hair loss, and inflammatory disorders such eczema, psoriasis, bullous dermatosis, as well as doing cosmetics dermatology. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys tennis, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
