Getting to know Andrea Balluch-Dean

Hi, I’m Andrea. I presume you found my profile because you want to make a positive change in your life? I applaud your efforts. Taking the first step on your path to wellness is the most important and, for some, the most intimidating. It’s not easy to open up to a stranger about your mental health needs. That’s why it’s important to find a mental health clinician you can connect with—one who has the qualities and skills to develop a therapeutic relationship with you. Let me tell you a bit about myself so YOU can decide if we’d be a good fit. I am dual-certified, with a master’s level education and board certification as both a psychiatric and family nurse practitioner. I became a family nurse practitioner (FNP) in 2013 and have experience in primary care, urgent care, worker’s comp, outpatient/inpatient addiction medicine, and more. I returned to Kent State University in 2018 and graduated in May 2020 with a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). As a PMHNP, I have extensive experience working with patients of all ages and backgrounds in outpatient settings. I specialize in diagnosing and treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, ADHD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, and substance use disorders. I am open-minded and accept patients of all shapes, sizes, colors, creeds, backgrounds, sexual/gender orientations, and ethnicities. However, I am currently only accepting patients ages 16+. Given my background, I am aware of the mind-body connection and take a holistic approach to treatment. My goal is to work with you to find a personalized, evidence-based plan that incorporates traditional medicine, counseling, and complementary modalities such as nutrition, exercise, breath work, and other interventions. If you feel we’d be a good fit, please use the contact information to schedule an appointment. See you soon!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is for you to leave your session feeling hopeful, heard, valued, and empowered. I work to achieve this through the practice of active listening, humility, empathy, and open-mindedness. My objective is not to tell you what to do, but rather to discuss potential evidenced-based treatment options, and to work together to choose an option that aligns with your needs and goals. Whether it’s your first or your 15th visit, you should always expect to leave our session understanding your treatment plan, expected outcomes, common side effects, and other potential options.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
