“First of all, Andrea is genuinely nice. There is nothing pretentious about her. I value that quite a lot. Her intelligence and extensive knowledge base are staggering. The skill with which she can change course if needed, is very reassuring. She’s not stuck in antiquated ways. I don’t feel ‘trapped’ in a med. She thoughtfully discusses and defines all treatment options and allows space for questions and contemplations. She is a gifted and generous listener, with a humble demeanor. I feel seen, heard, understood, valued and validated. She has an innate ability to see and treat people as unique individuals. Which is precisely what makes her relevant in this day and age. With her guidance, I am functioning at a level that, quite frankly, I didn’t think I would ever achieve. I highly recommend her. ”

Getting to know Andrea Janney

I’m a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in psychiatry, medication management, and addiction treatment, including Suboxone management. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. My approach is nonjudgmental, collaborative, and individualized. One of my greatest strengths as a provider is listening. I take time to understand your experiences, concerns, and goals so we can make treatment decisions together rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I know meeting with a new psychiatric provider can feel intimidating. My goal is to make the experience comfortable and approachable, creating a space where you can speak openly, ask questions, and feel heard. I value honest communication and want you to feel like an active partner in your care. We accept all major insurance carriers including medicare and medicaid.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to mental health care is collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I believe that every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment. I take the time to listen, understand your concerns, and learn about your experiences rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses. I provide psychiatric medication management tailored to your individual needs, goals, and preferences. I believe medication can be an important tool, but treatment should consider the whole person, not just a diagnosis. My goal is to help you understand your treatment options so we can make informed decisions together. You can expect honest conversations, a supportive environment, and a provider who values your input. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns, and sharing what is or isn't working. Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel better, improve your quality of life, and find a treatment approach that works for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your initial appointment, my priority is getting to know you and understanding what brings you to treatment. We'll review your psychiatric and medical history, family and social background, current symptoms, and any previous medications you've tried, including what has or hasn't worked for you. We'll also discuss how your symptoms are affecting your daily life and what you hope to achieve through treatment. I encourage you to ask questions, share concerns, and be open about your experiences. At the end of the appointment, we'll work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that aligns with your needs, preferences, and goals. Follow-up appointments are typically shorter and more focused on medication management. During these visits, we'll assess your response to medications, review any side effects, discuss changes in symptoms or functioning, and make adjustments when needed. The frequency of follow-up visits will depend on your individual needs and treatment progress. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in decisions about your care.

Andrea is the best combination of compassionate and efficient. Her knowledge is unmeasurable, and she really is the best psychiatrist I have had. I cannot recommend her enough. She takes every concern seriously and her response time is impeccable. She is phenomenal. 10/10
I started seeing Andrea Janney when my Suboxone doctor retired and she was referred to me by another patient. That was a little over a year ago now, and since then Andrea has helped me more than she even knows. I have had two unsuspected surgeries since I have started seeing her, and just being able to talk to her every month and being held accountable, it really aided me in a positive way with my recovery. Andrea is just so easy to open up to an talk with, and she has a way of communicating with you so you don't feel "looked down on" at all. It is very easy to get in to see her, and I am so happy she was the person referred to me! Sincerely, Angie:):):)
Andrea is an amazing listener and figures out exactly what meds are best for you, she remembers what works well and new things that may help more. I love my visits with her bc I feel like she truly understands my mental health and needs. I have never been happier with a psych provider! Highly recommend and I've referred many people who all agree she's wonderful! Very knowledgeable and kind too! She makes you feel comfortable and like you matter.
