Following a four-year residency in Psychiatry at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Dr. Shields became board certified in both General Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.

Horrible experience. The staff were unaware of my appointment when I arrived. I was turned away and told that I need to go through a phone screen before OFFICIALLY booking my appointment to see if I round be a good fit for them (like what?). The provider did not attempt to accommodate me while I was in the office. I was contacted today to do the icing screen. My intake forms clearly indicated that I was ONLY interested in medicine management and that I have multiple health issues. I was told that basically having these health issues made me an unfit candidate for them and my case would be beyond their score. I work for a psychiatry office and we see patients in far worse condition than I am. This practice needs to totally remove the med management portion from their offerings or make the system do a full stop if you have any comorbidity that they deem unacceptable. They also need to hire staff that actually vets their zoc doc appointments BEFORE the patient shows up expecting service.
