Dr. AnnElizabeth Card, PhD

Psychologist
CO
Hi there, I'm AnnElizabeth! My name is AnnElizabeth Card, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Colo. # PSY0006208) with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am a feminist psychologist who works from a culturally informed perspective. I believe psychotherapy enhances present skills and develops stronger experiences of identity, choices, and self-determination. I see my role as helping you decide who you are, who you might choose to become, and how you will respond to your goals, struggles, and strengths. My approach My therapeutic approach focuses on the stories we hold about ourselves and how they inform our identities. You will find my approach direct, compassionate, thoughtful, and supportive. I use a variety of techniques and orientations, including feminist, dynamic, interpersonal, cognitive, and process-oriented/humanistic. Specific focus is based on each client's goals, strengths, and treatment needs. My focus I work most often with women, woman-identifying, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I also have lived and professional experience with Indigenous persons, health professionals, and first responders. My clinical foci include compassion fatigue, responding to life’s changes, grief and loss, anxiety, trauma recovery, and helping clients generate stories that better define and serve their unique lives. My communication style My style promotes supported safety where clients do not feel alone, judged, or disempowered. Clients can expect me to be honest, empathetic, curious, and direct. They will not find me telling them how to behave, think, or feel. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to practicing clinical psychotherapy in this form began when I retired but wanted to continue to be of service. I know many struggle daily to survive their histories while coping with life’s challenges. The COVID pandemic and recent events exacerbated these struggles.
