I am a double board-certified adult and child/adolescent psychiatrist who believes the person sitting in front of me is more than a diagnosis. I believe in individualized, patient-centered care and in meeting people where they are. My approach is collaborative, with trust, transparency, and truly getting to know each person at the center. I believe patients should have autonomy in decisions about their health. My role is to listen, educate, provide support, and help patients make informed decisions consistent with their goals and values. I do not simply tell someone what medication to take; we develop the treatment plan together. My first appointment is often less about checking boxes and more about, “Let me get to know you.” I listen to the patient’s story and strive to understand the whole person. My practice combines evidence-based medication management with supportive psychotherapy and, when appropriate, CBT, mindfulness, emotional regulation, behavioral activation, and other therapeutic tools. Medication may be important, but lifestyle changes and therapy are also part of the larger picture.
