As a new patient I was surprised to see a "closed" sign in the window so I stood outside for 10 minutes until a lab guy showed up and called to have the door unlocked (turns out it wasn't locked but the receptionist doesn't want people wandering in). I had to complete paperwork so he saw someone else whose appointment was after mine, and I then waited for quite a while. Dr Patel was very quick with me so I don't know why he was so late. I did get a diagnosis and a prescription so I am glad I went but I don't think I will be going back.

Dr. Patel was kind and knowledgeable. He was reassuring and made sure to address all of my concerns. The office is small and not the fanciest, but the care seems to be reliable.

Great doctor, knowledgable and the lab is downstairs! Labcorp needs to clean up that lab a bit though. The last thing you want to see is a dirty environment as you have a needle going into your arm.

Great working with Doctor Patel. His offices are very conveniently located, and the laboratory located adjacent to the office made my visit extremely quick and painless. Definitely reserving his services for my general practitioner.

Some third-world country clinics look better than his. Picked up flu bugs there and became very sick. Our 2 visits were complete waste of time. We were there to seek cures for simple ailments, he gave us recommendations! Doctors like him are the reason why healthcare in this country skyrockets. They take money and do nothing!!!

Wonderful and warm clinic staff. Dr. Patel is patience to go through my medical history and listen to my problems. I am happy to list him as my PCP.

One of the weirdest experiences I’ve ever had at a doctor/internist. At no point was I told what to do or what the structure of the appointment was going to be. Dr. Patel mumbles through his words which makes it hard to understand what he’s saying. Overall, I felt very comfortable with this office set up. They have no online portal and rely on paper documents. Very odd... you will at and wait without being told what to do - make sure you sign in at the front desk. You will then meet with a medical student who will go through basics, then Dr. Patel will ramble something off reminiscent to what the student wrote down, and lastly you’ll be ushered down to the lab tech. I’m sure he’s great for some people, but this is NOT what I am used to.

Other than the almost 2 hour wait, the appointment went by quickly. The convenience of this office is that the lab is right downstairs, so you do not have to go anywhere else to get a blood or urine test.

I made an appointment around 2:30 and was SCOLDED for making an appointment at that time by the receptionist. Was told that she'd been there since 7am and I shouldn't have made an appointment that late in the day (ridiculous, like I can plan the time I'm going to be sick). Attempted to pay the copay and was shooed away and told I'd be sent a bill. I went in the first week of January.....it's almost February and I have yet to receive my blood work results. Every time I call, I'm given some excuse as to why he hasn't called me yet. Was even told "Well if it was crucial he would have called you by now so it's probably nothing"...Really?! Crucial or not, I need to know my results. Especially if the ailment I came in the office for is still ongoing. The doctor himself was very nice but this unprofessionalism is going to hurt him. NEVER going back.

Dr. Patel is so nice!! He's also very helpful - last time he gave me advice on what regular health things I need to update and this time he gave me a recommendation for a different specialist who is covered by my insurance for what I need next!

I've been using Dr. Patel, MD for years now as my primary care doctor. He is professional, kind, patient, and evidence-based in his practice. He tends to speak quietly, so be sure to ask him to speak louder if you have trouble hearing him. He responds to my specific patient requests and talks me through rationales if he disagrees with them. This leaves me with a better understanding of the visit, which is useful as a patient.

He is exceptionally intelligent and extremely well versed on prescription medication. He is well respected in the medical community and a Washingtonian Best Doctor for 2016. I have been a patient for 15 years, he remembers everything about me, and offers educated options for my care. AND, his receptionist Ellen know EVERYTHING about insurance!

I think that Dr. Patel is an excellent doctor. I appreciate that he always makes time to see his sick patients- which means there is sometimes a wait for a scheduled appointment. He takes his time with each patient too. I appreciate his care and thoughtfulness a great deal and am grateful not to have to wait for days if I'm sick. I highly recommend him and think he is worth waiting to see.

It was a good visit. However, it was a long wait to see the doctor and a very quick visit with him once I was in a room. I think they were just overwhelmed that day, but that wasn't communicated well.

Dr. Patel pays close attention to what you say, takes his time in thinking about what you've said, and then discusses how what he's thinking with you. It's a one on one discussion, not a lecture. Great guy, great staff, highly recommended.

This was by far one of the worst experiences of my life. I went to this doctor for seizure medication and he told me that he "chooses not to prescribe things". I have been on the medicine for over two years and am new to DC. I was not asking him to prescribe it, I was asking him to fill it until I could see a decent doctor. Let's face it, if you have same day availability you are probably a terrible doctor. I blame myself, but victims usually do blame themselves. I am a victim of Ashesh Patel. I arrived on time, had filled out all my paperwork in advance and had my ID and insurance cards ready. After being there for an hour he came into the room to tell me that he "chooses to not write prescriptions" and my only option was to go to the ER because legally they can't turn away someone. That's right. He admitted that I DID need this prescription or else I would have seizures, but said he refused to help and I needed to go to the ER. After discussing with my previous doctors and family; I will be seeking an attorney. He should not have a medical license. NO-ONE should have to go thru what I did. PS The facility is very small with thin walls so no privacy, it was beyond dirty (dirt and blood smears on the walls, a full used needle bin sitting out, etc.,) and the front desk staff is not helpful or knowledgeable.

Dr. Patel is great when he finally gets to you, but this morning the wait time was ridiculous. I waited for over an hour for my appointment. Even the secretary at the front desk complained about how appointments are overbooked and that there is no coordination between the front desk and bookings done in other ways (i.e. online). The guy in front of me left after an hour of waiting because he had somewhere else to be. This needs to be fixed.
