The actual appointment went well, however, the office seemed quite busy and it just took quite awhile to be seen and then to do the blood samples.

He said he would contact me with lab results, and now two weeks later, no call. Luckily, I got them myself from labcorp. Office is dirty and unorganized but the doctor himself was nice. The standard physical was not what Iwas expecting... mainly asked questions. Overall, okay but could be better.

I went to see Dr. Patel on a Thursday for a very bad sore throat. He did a few tests and told me I should have results by Monday. In the meantime, I was prescribed antibiotics. It has been 8 dayssince my appointment, my throat has only improved mildly, and I have not been able to reach Dr. Patel for my test results. I have called the office every day this week and left several messages with the receptionist who unhelpfully told me "all she can do is give my message to the doctor." The office was also incredibly low tech with small exam rooms. There was no rapid test for strep throat, which I have never experienced. And I had to bring physical carbon copies of the tests ordered to the nurse with my throat culture swab. All of which I would have happily overlooked if I felt like I received adequate care. I move often, so I have seen many different doctors, and this was easily one of my worst experiences.

Initial appointment was fine, if not a bit rushed. Dr. Patel was very nice. Was trying to find a new primary care in the city to get prescription refills. Wrote out a physical prescription for a couple medications. I called back5 times during business hours and only reached the office once. I wanted my prescription to be electronically submitted to a mail order service. They said they could, although it might be delayed. Talked to the mail order service a few days later and it was never submitted. Called to try to remedy the situation (at this point I'm almost out of medication), the lady on the phone was agitated and said the fax was down. Offered a number for direct submission of the prescipt. and she said she wouldn't call to submit it. Sounds like an admin problem. Very old tech in the office, only one person to answer calls and check in patients. Shouldn't make the patients suffer for it though, it's unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and try somewhere else.

Dr. Patel is very nice and competent. He is ready to explain things and is nice about it. He is soft spoken, so don't feel bad about asking him to repeat something. The office space and supporting staff leave something tobe desired. The facility is old and not well taken care of, which doesn't inspire confidence. The staff members don't communicate well, so be sure to ask a lot of questions.

Dr. Patel's office is out of date and does not present well. His office does not use an electronic health record, currently running on a DOS system, and is entirely paper based. Front office staff is harsh and rude and whenI met with Dr. Patel he rushed me out with little explanation of what was going on and often failed to speak loud enough for me to understand what he was saying.

I had a great visit with Dr. Patel. His staff was very kind and accommodating, as they acted promptly to make sure I was able to return to work in a timely manner. I would highly recommend visiting Dr. Patel dueto his professionalism, calming demeanor, and his office's unbeatable location right in Dupont Circle. I will definitely be visiting again in the future!

Dr. Patel seemed competent and addressed all of my concerns & questions in professional and easily understandable manner. I would recommend him. I waited for 1 hour to see him, office staff didn’t show up to open clinic until slightly aftermy 7:30 appointment, i got there early to fill out forms, & ended up waiting outside, luckily not raining. Receptionist was combative with customers at times with customers who didn’t fully know their insurance benefits, forms were old, photocopied several times, so blurry, honestly, how hard is it to print out a new form,) and general ambiance of facility was from 1984 with stains on carpet and 1984 computer systems to boot. Labcorp technician is in old basement with old files & dingy. Very unimpressed with facility, dr seems good. Unsure if i will go back.

Great experience overall. Front desk was nice, helpful, and got me in pretty quickly. The time with the doctor was quick(5 min), but I felt he really wanted to listen to what I had to say and he spent all thetime he needed to get an accurate diagnosis. I will definitely return. I feel like many of the people writing negative reviews on here must be very entitled or have unrealistic expectations. I was a little nervous about the mixed reviews but so glad I made the appointment.

I've been seeing Dr. Patel for a few years now, and have had a great experience every time. He's professional, knowledgeable, and to the point. I also *hate* getting blood drawn, and the tech downstairs does a great job of distractingme and making it go as smoothly as possible. I'll continue to happily see Dr. Patel for all my medical needs.

Waited over half hour, and the was rushed through my visit. You don’t tell someone they are probably fine when they come in for a serious medical concern, then run test and say they will be ready in a few dayswhen a week later still nothing. Keep calling asking for results and never get a call back. I guess I’ll have to go somewhere else to actually get good service.

I genuinely don't understand the high ratings for this doctor, and I urge Zocodoc to look into the validity. Upon entrance to the office, you'll know immediately something is off. It's dirty, musty, and there's paperwork everywhere -- I trulybegan questioning if these papers strewn about were some kind of HIPPA violation. The treatment room itself was cold, dark, and didn't feel clean as well. Once I was seated in a chair near the doctor's desk, I felt incredibly uncomfortable as there was literally dirt and crumbs in the carpet around me, papers once again strewn everywhere, and empty drink and food littering the doctor's desk! I won't even begin with the environment and bedside manner of the lab where I was supposed to get blood work done -- I actively got up and left the office without getting my blood work done because I was terrified at that point. I've been waiting on test results for a one week since my appointment now, after being promised a two-day turnaround. I've left three messages with the office at this point. I'm still not feeling better and am incapable of returning to work without knowing whether or not I'm contagious. This is just inexcusable. While the doctor himself and the medical school patient I met with were nice and capable enough, the surroundings and professionalism of this office are just horrific.

Never called me with the results as promised. Doctor was clearly knowledgeable, but barely spent any time with me and offered NO information on options (other than do your research and decide or here's another doctor). Everything took a millionyears. Archaic filing system. Just unacceptable. This is why people don't trust doctor's and see the experience as a ripoff.

I felt a little rushed and that Dr. Patel had a prescription plan ready before he walked in the door to see me. The front staff warmed to me eventually but at first were very cold and didn’t acknowledge me forabout 5 mins after I walked in because they were chatting with a patient about non-work-related things. Everything felt a little like a time warp too — paper files, very old computers, telephone books, and paper prescriptions. Dr. Patel was very nice and if it wasn’t for the other staff, I might return.

Horrible practice! Staff is rude and poorly trained, waiting times are ridiculously long, organization is poor, and waiting rooms are depressing. I visited the office while 6 months pregnant to do a blood exam. I had to wait almost two hoursto get my blood drawn. I hadn't eaten anything in anticipation of the blood exam and I almost fainted waiting to get my blood drawn. I thought I should give the practice another chance so I had a post-natal appointment to get my blood drawn again. I had to wait one hour to get my blood drawn while my 6-week old baby was waiting at home to be nursed. After an hour the nurse came in and she was unable to get a blood sample. This is the first time this has happened to me as I have very pronounced veins. I also have needle phobia so I almost fainted while the nurse was trying to get a blood sample. In addition, I needed to call the office multiple times to have my exam results back and my prescriptions refilled. I have been given prescriptions for brand-name drugs while I have explicitly asked for the generic version of the drug and as a result I had to pay three times the price of the drug. Lastly, the office keeps paper instead of electronic records which makes any request for information ridiculously time consuming. I would encourage anyone to stay away from this practice unless they have money and time to waste.

Dr. Patel seemed very competent and friendly when I interacted with him, but I spent the majority of my time in his office waiting on him. While I waited in an exam room, he was sitting across the hall in hisoffice with another doctor who seemed to be in residency. Despite being made aware that I was waiting in the exam room, the two spent more than 30 minutes conversing about medical education before I was seen. I thought it was unprofessional to keep a patient waiting at length to carry on a social conversation.

Dr. Patel was great - very knowledgeable and took the time to answer questions and explain the answers clearly. There was a slight wait, but as others mentioned it's probably more due to the fact that he spends time with eachpatient, rather than some inefficiency. Also got bloodwork done in the basement with the nurse, after she warmed up she was great. Definitely keeping him as my doctor
