Wasn't helpful for what I needed treated. Ended up recommending an OTC pill that I could have bought without waiting the hour before being seen by her office. Recommended duplicating many tests that I had already had done a year ago. All in all, I didn't really feel she was listening to what my concerns of sharing empathy.
Dr. Bakhru is very nice and unfortunately had to wait on a patient that came in very sick and was unable to see a lot of her patients on time was very apologetic and sweet. The X-ray technician was also very nice.
Dr. Bakhru is the most thorough doctor I have ever been to. I wish I had a doctor like her sooner!
Definitely an overall good experience.
I received a warm welcome as I walked into the office. It was my first visit. I left my last Dr. due to the rudeness from his office staff and the Dr's huge ego, or lack of giving a care for anyone else in the world (god's gift to women complex).Dr Bakhru was so friendly, and actively listened to me - it was such relief. All staff in the halls, the nurse and x-ray tech were genuinely happy people - a breath of fresh air. Thank you! I look forward to my next visit.
Overall a poor experience. The receptionists were curt. I waited for 40 minutes in the waiting room. After the nurse had taken measurements and basic information I waited another 30 minutes for the doctor to see me. The doctor was courteous and thorough, but didn't greet me when she came in and didn't refer to me by name even once. I believe it was a good medical examination but I found the whole experience extremely impersonal. The one exception, was the nurse who attended to me who was warm and kind. This is not a practice I would recommend to anyone looking for a long-term, family doctor.
I was there for almost 3 hours. Ridiculous. She was sweet and smart though.
I thought 2 1/2 hours for an annual check up is too long for an appointment. There was a lot of waiting between doctors/nurses/various exams. I felt like I was being rushed through to just wait again.
Everyone was really nice and respectful. Dr. Bakhru was lovely and I thoroughly recommend her. I will note that the wait in between tests was a quite long, but I did not feel rushed at any point.
She was very professional. Explained every part of the examination in full detail. Gave helpful suggestions as to how to keep healthy. Very kind. Def plan to go back!
This doctor took advantage of the fact that I was a new patient to try and push a bunch of unnecessary tests during an annual physical. I said no that I only wanted what was covered in my annual but needed to do some slight blood work to check if I had already received a vaccine or not. She tested me for everything under the rainbow way beyond checking vaccines and in result I received an insane bill. She was extremely rude about it when I spoke to her on the phone about why she tested me beyond what I had asked for which she said were "routine tests". Never going back to her, would not recommend.
Dr. Bakhru was nice enough but her answers to my questions were a bit vague. She seemed a little distracted, but I appreciate that she was hesitant to prescribe any antibiotics because of fear of building resistance.
She listens to all your concerns, no matter how ridiculous. She has immediate references and recommendations. Extremely thorough with testing and addressing your concerns. I'm very happy I chose to see her.
It was a very thorough checkup which I was happy with and have not had that level of attention elsewhere, it was smooth and efficient and Dr. Bakhru was really nice and provided a lot of great information and helpful next steps.
The most attentive doctor I have seen in my 8 years in New York. She addressed all of my concerns and explained all procedures and options to me clearly. I appreciate her direct and concise way of speaking- which I could see may come across as cold to some. She did not rush at all, her manner is simply very efficient and she did a great job of keeping me on topic so we could be sure to touch on the many concerns I had. I left feeling incredibly confident and with the peace of mind that we were not missing anything. Would recommend Dr. Bakhru to anyone- and the nurses are also incredibly friendly and helpful.
Waited over an hour to be seen for a physical. Dr. Bakhru ordered random miscellaneous tests on me that were not part of a routine physical but she said they would be covered by insurance. Was surprised to receive a bill in the mail today for tests that she ordered that were not actually covered! Will not be returning.
She is great very thorough and very caring
Dr. Bakhru is very thorough, clearly concerned with any patient concern and takes everything you say seriously. I left there happier than I've been with any doctor in recent years.
From the moment I walked in, I really did not like the vibe of the place. The office itself was very outdated and seems unclean. Dr. Bakhru was very kind and didn't rush through but I felt as if she was trying to sell me on getting several tests done that didn't sound necessary at all.
I came in for visit to refill my meds. I waited 40 minutes to see the MD. I payed my co payment before I saw the MD and the front desk tried to charge me again. Then they sent the meds to the wrong pharmacy even though I have them the new number. They close early so I had to wait to the next day to get in touch with them. When I called back the next day they did not even say Hello, just put me on a 5 minute hold. Ended up leaving a message. Office is unreliable, overbooked, and sloppy. I felt like cattle coming here.
Quick and efficient. I came earlier than my appointment time, they accommodated me right away The staff who did the procedures are very nice, professional and reassuring The nurse? not like the others, may need some client training! Seemed not happy with her job! As always, Dr. B is quick and comprehensive, wasted no time, answered all my questions
She was very polite, thorough and made sure all of my questions were answered.
Dr Bakhru is very kind, her office efficient, and the whole experience was wonderful. Without any hesitation I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the good Dr Bakhru!
Extremely nice and helpful and so was the whole staff. She had great recommendations for me, as i am a new diabetic and had a lot of questions. she even set me up with a nutritionist who is in the office - so convenient. very fast appointment too. no wait time - and i was in and out in a half hour.. and i even had bloodwork done, which sometimes can take forever to wait for a phlebotomist. i even complained to her about back pain.. and she had a pain management specialist come talk to me quickly while they were taking my blood. talk about convenience! great office! i highly recommend
I've switched doctors as my physician for the last 6 years retired. As I moved I also wanted a doctor in my neighborhood and found Dr. Bakhru highly rated. I could not have been happier with choosing her. Dr. Bakhru was beyond thorough and probed for more information on my family medical history - she genuinely wanted to know everything about me to best get to know and understand my ailments. She did not rush or make me feel like she had to run out to another apt, which we've all experienced with doctors. Instead she made me feel very comfortable and explained everything in simple English - none of this medical jargon.
After meeting with so many doctors who ask questions before you can answer them, I was so happy to meet with Dr. Bakhru who took a lot of time to listen to my responses and asked thoughtful follow up questions throughout my physical. She was professional, courteous and has an incredibly warm disposition.
I think she's very knowledgeable but she comes off very abrasive for a Doctor and a little demanding. You have to be patient (ironically) with her, and I think she's great - I was a little surprised. That's all. Thanks!
Dr. Bakhru is quick and efficient, others are not I waited for almost 2 hours for a procedure, ended up not being done because there are more patients waiting before me
Dr. Bakhru was very nice and professional. At the same time, the wait was extremely long. I was there for about 2.5 hours just for a physical!
Very professional on all levels. Bedside manners extraordinary, haven't seen mannerisms such as hers since the 1990s.
Dr. Bakhru was incredible - very thorough, intelligent and kind. But the office was terribly slow. While my wait time to be seen was only 10 minutes, the wait time between the basics of my annual physical and getting the hearing and lung test was 45 minutes. I actually just had to leave and reschedule that part of the exam since I had a meeting to get to.
Very professional, efficient and courteous.
The visit was through, but the wait with an appointment was almost an hour.
Overall it took very long to get out again.
The front desk was very friendly and quick. Dr Bakhru was extremely thorough and seemed very concerned.I would highly recommend her.
Dr. Bakhru was very sweet, informative, thorough and direct. I left with a full understanding of both my symptoms and next steps.
Excellent and thorough.
Dr. Bakhru sent my work to a lab that was not covered by my insurance, even though she was. This was obviously done in an attempt to receive more in her pocket, which is absolutely shameful. You can imagine my shock when I received a bill for tests that one would assume were sent to a lab under your insurance. I would also like to note this was simply a yearly checkup. Additionally, every question I had she would not answer but rather gave me referral specialists, only furthering her obvious motives. If you are debating other PCP's, please do not go here and find someone that is actually a CARE provider.
She was so thorough and thoughtful. She let me speak my mind and answered all of my questions.
Very long wait time, however she was attentive and thorough...
I was completely unsatisfied with this visit for a routine physical. When asked if I had any concerns about my health, I provided some concerns related to sleep and weight gain. She immediately began rattling off what I may be doing wrong- without really asking me if any of it were the case or if I have ever seen anyone about these issues before! It was then that I realized that I was being treated by the worst kind of scientist- she had made assumptions about the causes and seemed intent on collecting data that only confirmed those foregone conclusions. And that's despite my best efforts to help her treat me more fairly and accurately. In the process, she made negative comments about my appearance and insisted that all of my issues could be explained by what she assumed was my poor diet and habits. She was so intent on pegging me with bad diet and habits that after waving off my answers about breakfast (fruit and a piece of toast) (probably because it was too healthy to poke holes into), she suggested that eating asparagus for dinner causes bloating which I suppose in her mind is supposed to explain a 30 LB weight gain over the last few years??? Terrible. Asparagus was one of the examples that she wanted me to give of the vegetables that I 'claimed' (because it seemed that she took me for a liar) I eat for dinner when asked. Further underlining my impression that she had made assumptions about me that she wanted to prove in anyway she could. I didn't even waste time finishing the appointment because I didn't see how such an awful scientist could really help me understand my long-time battle with staying asleep and holding onto to weight that I hadn't had a problem with before the last five years. It seemed best to book an appointment with someone more competent in listening to and believing in their patients enough that they take what you are saying as the building blocks for their conclusions and course of investigation and treatment. The only 'good' thing about this visit was that the wait time was short... almost too short that it was bad. I didn't even have time to finish the paperwork and felt rushed. I've worked in public health for years in data analysis and program evaluation. I know there are populations who are at risk for eating poorly because of poor access to quality fresh foods, especially in NYC, but you can't assume that everyone who might look like a certain demographic is facing those same risks. That's ignorant and bad science. You have to actually take some time, listen and believe your patients, and collect data about an individual patient to determine the best course of investigation and treatment. Always keep in mind the larger context and structural issues but treat an individual as such. Just get it together.
Dr. Bakhru is really professional and nice. She is understanding and communicates well with the patient during the exam. Sometimes I think she seems rushed.
Fantastic! Great listener, explained everyhing to me I was confusd about and was incredibly understanding to my concerns.
Dr Bakhru was well informed and professional. I would recommend her as a physician. However, I was very disappointed with overall practice administration. I waited 80 minutes before seeing the doctor, and despite slotting 2.5 hours for an annual visit, I didn't have enough time to get through everything due to delays and inefficiencies.
Highly recommend her as a general practitioner.
Dr Bakhru was so sweet! She wasn't feeling well herself when I saw her but she was very thorough, answered all my questions, and addressed all my concerns. She also went over everything she was doing and made me feel comfortable. I felt like I was in very good hands. Definitely recommend her!
Unfortunately this was one of the worst Doctor visits I have ever experienced. To be brief; the women at the front desk were extremely rude and unhappy, I had to wait over an hour to see the Doctor, when Dr. Bakhru finally came in she jumped to a lot of conclusions and was also openly judgmental when i disclosed personal answers to her pointed questions. A simple diagnosis turned into 6 different and, in my opinion, unnecessary tests that she wrangled me into. She made the tests seem free, easy, and quick. However, it felt more like a ploy instead of an attempt to actually get me better. I was never legitimately helped in regards to my sickness. It took me OVER six months to get all of my results back, not to mention that it was a painful process. I could write many more examples of what went wrong, but mostly I cannot stress enough how much you should not go to this Doctor's office. I felt very taken advantaged of.
Excellent and thorough. I'm really excited to have finally found a primary care doctor in NYC that I am happy with.
Dr. Bakhru was amazing! I've never sat down with a doctor who listens so intently. I really felt like she cares and is passionate about her job.
As always, Dr. Bakhru was very pleasant and thorough. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Bakhru is one of the best doctors I've ever met. She is thorough and kind and very detail-oriented. I trust her completely. The staff members at the office are also very kind and efficient. The facilities have everything on-site, and I cannot recommend highly enough.
Dr. Bakhru is a friendly, highly-professional and well-trained doctor with a kind personality that I find to be quite refreshing coming from a medical professional. She entertained my questions, treated me with a dignified respect, and spent more time going over her reasoning than I know most primary doctors to do with their patients. However, the office in which she works and the administration built up around I never want to deal with again. Like many bureaucracies, they are inefficient and perilously incompetent, except for when it comes to concealing their incompetence from their superiors, for which they have a rare eagerness. Every interaction has a subtext of barely concealed contempt, like your very existence creates more work for them. Admittedly, my existence probably does create more work for them, but there is little I can do about that outside of never returning. Any attempt to reach anyone by phone ends with a voicemail box that must be stuffed to the brim with frustrated mutterings like the one I left over an hour ago but am yet to receive a call back from. In the event you somehow manage to reach a live human being, there is an audible shrug on the line as that person explains to you that whatever your problem is, it's not their responsibility, and off they send you, back to voicemail purgatory. I hardly blame any one person, but that's the trouble with overwrought bureaucracies such as these, the problems are always somebody else's burden but the weight falls squarely on the shoulders of the fool attempting to navigate it. In this case, that's me. Frankly, taking my chances with this infection is seeming like a less painful option than trying to coax the antibiotics Dr. Bakhru prescribed out of the dispassionate machinery arrayed around her. I have my own job to do, and I can't spend my day trying to get other people to do theirs. So here's to hoping I don't die.
I absolutely loved my initial visit with Dr. Bakhru! She was thorough and listened to all of my concerns. Not only did she address everything, but she was proactive in suggesting things that I hadn't thought of before. I had an early morning appointment and was seen right away. The nurses and receptionist were also fantastic -- what a great office!
I was there for a routine physical and there were significant waits before the doctor saw me and in between tests. During the tests itself, the doctor and her staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Bakhru is very professional, takes time to explain things and makes you feel very comfortable.
I liked her a lot, however if you are planning to see Dr. Bakhru, make sure you have a lot of time- she is very thorough and you should expect to spend a good amount of time there.
Dr. Bakhru is very thorough and genuinely seems interested in your well-being. The nurses and staff are kind of all over the place and a bit brusque. The nurse who admitted me told me I was in for a follow-up so only had a 15 minute time slot. I informed her I had a 30-minute slot and was here for an Annual Physical, since the last time I was in the office was one year ago, and she had a bit of an attitude for the rest of the visit.
I really enjoyed my first visit with Dr. Bakhru. I went in for an annual check up and she took her time and was very thorough. I would say she spent over 30 minutes with me and we covered everything I had wanted to talk about. I was seen right away, as I had a morning appointment. She was very friendly and professional, and I would recommend her to anyone.
After a two hour wait, I was seen. Bedside manner was stilted, condescending, and fake apologetic, blaming me for the wait. Front desk was unhelpful and slow. Avoid.
She treated me like another intelligent person. She didn't leave out information. She explained everything she was doing in the exam. She was thorough in getting my background information and symptoms and she was warm.
She was great. The nurses and staff can be a little more organized, but overall good experience.
Ashoka Bakhru was awesome. Made me feel comfortable right away she was very knowledgeable. She answered all My questions and offered information flyers and even recommended research articles to look for if I had further questions.
Dr. Bakhru was nice, but I will not be visiting her for care again. After waiting close to 2 hours, the doctor rushed in and went through my symptoms very quickly. She seemed to want to get in and out as soon as possible, and ended up prescribing me for an anti-depressant (even though I did not ask her to and this was not what I came in for). Like I said, Dr. Bakhru was nice, but she needs to slow down, pay attention to her nurses more, and listen to her patients.
I have anxiety issues with doctors and especially needles, so much so that I usually have panic attacks and avoid doctors until absolutely needed. I needed to come in for a tetanus shot and general physical which I had been putting off for some time. I felt relieved when I met Dr. Bakhru. She has a very calm and friendly demeanor. She is very thorough and asks of questions without feeling invasive. She does not try to rush you. She seems to take a holistic approach to health and thinks preventive care is the most important. Additionally her nurses were great. As stated, I have a phobia of needles and her nurses were very patient and gentle. Another nurse volunteered to hold my hand. The nurse who gave me the shot was extremely quick and gentle. I hardly felt it, and it was the least painful shot experience I ever had. I am now not nervous about going back for more shots, and blood work. So glad I found this place! On time: I got there around 2:35 for a 3:00 appointment. I was taken back by the nurse at 2:40 and I saw the doctor before 3.
Great experience. First time going to the doctor since I've moved to America (Canadian). Dr. B is the best. She explained everything well.
Receptionist staff a little disorganized. And basically do not know what they are doing. But Dr Bakhru is great.
This was my first visit to the office of Dr. Bakhru and I was more than thoroughly pleased. (I did wait a while, but it was explained that an usual situation had occurred earlier outside of anyone's control.) I've been skeptical of doctors recently because of food allergies that were the root of many problems for over 10 years that went undiagnosed. It seems that sometimes a prescription was just the best option for some doctors. However, during my meeting with the Dr. Bakhru, it was incredibly comforting to see that she takes a wholistic approach to delivering medical care. She sincerely cares for the wellbeing of her patients and is very knowledgable. Furthermore, the staff in the office are very warm, friendly, and helpful. And the nurse was very warm as well, professional, and an expert at blood draw. I am very happy with my experience and would 100% recommend others to see Dr. Bakhru and the other medical professionals in this office.
She was good - a little abrupt and to the point - but she didn't pull any punches and she was very professional.
This was such a great experience. Dr. Bakhru took the time to get to know me, my medical history and truly cared about my overall health, not just my flu. I really appreciated her taking the time to explain everything to me. Highly recommend!
Super nice! Will be back!
I was the last appointment of the day, but Dr. Bakhru and the nurses did not rush me at all. Everyone was very patient, precise & professional. Dr. Bakhru walked me through every step of a very normal physical, explaining what she was doing at every moment & why she chose to pursue some tests & not others given my history & results. The office itself was just a bit more untidy than a few offices I've been in (plastic covers from the cloth wraps & papers overflowing from bins) - but then again, it was the end of the day.
This was my first physical in 5 years, the doctor was very thoroughly and took her time on each and very question and concern I had. She spend about 45 mins with me doing multiple tests and just listening to my questions. Although I came in for my annual they morning of I woke up with a cold, and she was able to give me antibiotics to ensure I would fight this before the Holidays. The wait time to go in was typical for any doctors office, not too fast but it wasn't too long. I would recommend Dr.Bakhru to anyone!
good experiece ,saw the assistant first right away but then i had to wait for the doctoe over 30 mn and was on a tight schedules...
Dr. Bakhru is very thorough. She spent time with me, asked a lot of questions and had a great bedside manner. Her staff were also very friendly. I'm glad I found her! The one downside was that I did wait just over an hour for my appointment.
Dr.Bakhru is amazing detailed and professional. my initial visit was speedy, but my follow up took longer than i expected, as i was pressed for time. all in all she's amazing and i will continue to visit her as my primary care doctor.
It is always a pleasure to see my doctor
Dr. Bakhru was very sweet and professional. The wait time was too much even after having an appointment. The person who took my blood for the tests was very sweet but not very gentle.
I was at the office almost 3 hours for a general checkup.
She Very nice and professional. She will go deep into details with your results. She takes good care of her patients; she pays attention, listens to you and your concerns. I would definitely recommend Dr Bakhru.
Dr. Bakhru was very thorough and helpful, I feel like she really takes her time to listen to me and explain things to me if I have questions.
Hour long wait times at lunch. So disrespectful.
Dr. Bakhru is extremely thorough, in my personal case, to a flaw. Went in with a sore throat and ended up having to detail my family history with cancer and other details that seemed completely unnecessary to why I was there. Some people like this, I on the other hand want to get in and out as quickly as possible. The amount of paperwork I had to fill out when I got there was also beyond excessive-I understand it was my first time there, but took about 15 minutes and then upon checkout they asked for my number and my pharmacist's number again even though I had written both down multiple times in the paperwork-definitely a bit frustrating.
Ashima Bakhru was amazing. She was so comprehensive and kind! Wonderful Doctor!
I really wish that they had a more efficient waiting system or choose to take less patients. First time I visited the wait was 45 mins and today it was 30 mins. Not great for those of us who need to go to work. I see a lot of geriatric folks in the waiting room who don't look like they are in any type of rush.
She was very sweet and thorough. I was seen within ten minutes of my appointment time. I would definitely come back for my next physical.
She took good care of me.
Dr. Bakhru is extremely thorough and makes sure to address all of your concerns. The entire appointment takes about 1.5-2 hours so prepare to be there for a while!
Appointment was good! I did have to wait about 20/30 after seeing the doctor to have my blood drawn by a nurse and when my blood was drawn, the nurse was a little rougher than I am used to.
She was very professional and answered all of my questions. Great doctor, I didn't have to wait too long but I didn't get in right at the time of my appointment. Also, people who showed up after me were taken back before I was.
Despite the 50-55 minute wait to be seen, I was on time, Dr. Bakhru apologized purfusely and her bedside manner more then made up for it. She is my new PCP and I look forward to builing a great repour with her moving forward :) She is very thorough and takes the time to explain what she is doing and why.
Dr. Bakhru is extremely thorough. I am quite happy with my visit.
Dc Bakhru was great! I am on the second appointment with her, she took the time to listen to me and explain everything. She has great bedside manners and she didn't rush our visits. Sometimes the wait time is a little too long (definitely not for lunch time break) but each visit was worth the wait. The rooms are really clean and the staff members are nice!
Dr. Bakhru was great -- she's got a great manner, cares about the details, and I never felt rushed. Nurses and office staff were great too.
Doesn't listen well and preachy.
While Dr. Bakhru was excellent (pleasant, knowledgeable, walked me through everything I needed to know), the front of house staff were extremely unprofessional and the wait time was atrocious. I spent 4 hours at this practice(on a work day!) for a checkup that should have taken 1.5 hours at the most. For every additional test (xray, etc) another 20 minutes was tacked onto my wait time. One receptionist actually walked away as I was checking in with her after my appointment! I have never felt so invisible. I don't think I'll be returning, which is a shame because I did really like Dr. Bakhru and know that it is hard to find a good doctor in the area.
She is a great doctor, gentle, nice, patient, professional and helpful. But the reception at her office is not quite professional. They couldn't manage to deal with several patients at the same time, and they asked me to sign my name and then wait for them to call. And I've been sitting there for 30+ minutes and then I went to ask how long do I still need to wait. Then they told me that they didn't know i was waiting and they said that I should sign in at first -- which I did at the first place, as required! I hope they could improve.
Hard sell on cancer screening services that came out of nowhere (totally unrelated to the reason why I came in). Otherwise, Dr. Bakhru was professional and seemed knowledgeable and overall I was satisfied.
She was warm and welcoming yet professional. She was very thorough and I appreciated that. I would definitely recommend her and see her again. Office staff was very professional as well
Dr. Bakhru was extremely knowledgeable and very nice in explaining all details of my diagnosis. The biggest issue I had with the appointment was that they get backed up fairly quickly with patients so that I was waiting for nearly 2 hours. This happened on more than one occasion. Additionally, the equipment and rooms seemed quite outdated.
Dr Bakhru was wonderful. This was my first experience with a general practitioner in NYC (I am working on switching over all my doctors after recently moving) and I was very happy with my visit. I was running late however the front desk, nurses, and doctor were very understanding and took me right away. Dr Bakhru as well as the nurse that prepped me made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely be going back to Dr Bakhru as my general practitioner going forward.
Everyone was very professional and friendly. I had a very complete exam, they did a number of tests I hadn't had before. And they explained what they were doing as they proceeded. The Dr. was very easy to talk to and took the time to listen to my concerns. I was taken in right away, I hadn't even finished the paperwork yet. I am happy with her as my new primary and will definitely be going back.
What I love about Dr.Bakhru is that she is extremely thorough and discusses all options when it comes to treatment. However, the office is very unorganized. After being a patient of Dr. Bakhru's for almost a year now, they've had my file under the wrong insurance! Even when I double checked months ago for a prior visit, they said that had the right one. No wonder why when I called my insurance, we couldn't figure it out. Had to get the run around before they actually showed me my records. Lesson learned - be on top of the people that do the billing and don't assume they got their stuff together.
It was very quick and very thorough. I was seen right away. A little long for a visit. Please refrain to make comments about patient appearance.
Dr. Bakhru is great! She is very thorough and takes her time going over your your medical history and answering any concerns you may have. She has a very calm and reassuring personality and never seems rushed.
Pleasant, and on time with great advice. Very much appreciated.
She was very thorough and the nurse was great as well. It took a bit of time, but it wasn't too long a wait.
She is my primary care doctor and I would refuse to find anyone else. She is fantastic. I went twice, and for some reason twice I get through straight away! I love her nurse, she takes my blood seamlessly and I am a human pin cushion, and her nurse finds my veins just fine (albeit with some problems cause I have like no veins) but she doesn't hurt me and poke me like a lot of others. The doctor is great, awesome bedside manner, just very nice, I think she cares about her patients and I appreciate that.
Went for a annual exam , in my opinion the doctor ordered more tests than required and made me visit multiple times and she was little bit rude so I stopped visiting after couple of visits. Usually my other doctors check the insurance coverage before sending to lab for tests ... but this doctor's office did not do it and I ended up with a big out of network claim bill for my annual checkup which was supposed to be 100% covered if they had done it right. In my opinion the center is very business oriented , avoid if you can , if you have to go make sure you proactively question them about the tests and ask them to check coverage.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Dr bakhru explained that my visit would be rushed through because she had other patients to attend too- wasn't happy about that
There is a really long wait to see Dr. Bakhru, but it is because she takes a lot of time to sit down with her patients and go through their symptoms and concerns. Her attention to detail and calm demeanor are really helpful in trying to understand any issue or treatment plan you are facing. She definitely exhibits the qualities a good physician should have to make their patients comfortable.
Great visit. Very professional.
She was nice and very thorough. After a visit with a different doctor who was rushed and distracted, I was grateful to find Dr Bakhru! Highly recommended and she took my concerns seriously.
Very helpful. Clearly and concisely explained everything she was doing and why she was doing it. Called me with test results the next day, which she also went through with me.
Pluses: Ashima is really nice and takes the time to answer all your questions. I also really appreciated that she assessed my full chart and read fully into my family history because I went in looking for a new PCP. I came in for a specific issue and she helped me with that and put a lot of my worries to rest. All in all, a very thorough and comforting visit. Negative: The nurses/receptionists are a bit unorganized and don't have the best bedside manner. The wait time is very, very long - though I would partially attribute this to the fact that she really spends time with her patients.
She was very talkative, she answered all of my questions and gave me all the remedies to feel better. She is great!
Dr. Bakhru was very patient and thorough. It never seemed the session was rushed, and it is evident she is experienced. I was pleased with my visit.
Dr. Bakhru was very pleasant and made my visit comfortable. She seemed very knowledgeable yet personable. A great reminder that patients are humans and not lab rats! The Nurse was equally pleasant. Thank you.
I went to Dr Bakhru for an annual physical and while her knowledge seemed to be sufficient, I felt Dr Bakhru took advantage of my ignorance to recommend and run unnecessary tests. The assistants also did not seem to have proper bedside manner or training to perform their duties. First, she ended up taking 7 vials of blood because she recommended all these different tests (including Lyme disease etc) which I realized afterwards was extreme but I figured she knew best. The assistant who drew my blood had a hard time finding a vein so I ended up with bruises afterwards which has never happened to me in my entire life when getting blood drawn. Then she had EKG done which I wasn't even informed of and when I asked the assistant if the results looked okay she paused, turned the results right-side up and said "yea..." with a look on her face that told me she had no idea how to read the results. I have never been told that I needed an EKG done and I felt that Dr Bakhru took advantage of my ignorance to run the test without explaining why I needed it so she could collect on the insurance. Also when Dr Bakhru was performing my breast exam, another assistant barged into the room without knocking while I was undressed. It couldn't get much worse than that. During the exam I also asked about a new mole that appeared on my foot and while she said it was probably nothing she recommended me to a specialist. I never went because I didn't feel it was necessary. When I came back to get the results of my physical she kept telling me I should go to the specialist to get it checked and that her referral was only good for a certain amount of time which made me think that she got some type of compensation or upside from making the referral. That also another sign to me that she had ulterior motives and not her patient's best interest at heart. I would not recommend Dr Bakhru based on my experience with her and her assistants. If you decide to use her as a physician, pay close attention to any exams or tests she recommends to ensure that she is not running any unnecessary tests that you will end up paying for.
it was excellent.
Very nice doctor. Took time to explain everything very thoroughly.
I visited twice this office and Dr. Bakhru. The wait is way too long even though I had appointments. The first time I waited about 30 min, the second time I waited about an hour and a half. The staff is not the most friendly and the office also doesn't follow up. I had to call to find out that my test results came the week before, and I never heard back about a special test that was done (I never got the results). The doctor is nice and she did a complete exam but that doesn't compensate enough for the rest.
I loved that she was very very thorough and explained things as she was doing them. I will be going back
Dr. Bakhru was great. Very kind, knowledgable and thorough. Unfortunately it was about an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time until I finally saw her.
She is the cutest and sweetest thing! She takes her time to explain everything and to make sure that you understand what is going on with you. She's personable and very easy to open to. You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does and truly cares for her patients.
Ashima was attentive, willing to listen to my questions, did not push any pills on me, and took her time.
The staff was super about the fact that I showed up without my insurance information.
I thought she was terrific. I had fears about my probable condition, but after her check-up and answering a bunch of my questions turns it was nothing and I felt that much better after I left. Also, I was late by 15 minutes, but I was still seen right away. Highly recommend her
The office and equipment seemed a little old and I waited around 45 minutes before even seeing a nurse. All in all I waited over an hour before I saw the doctor, however I was very pleased with Dr. Bakhru and would go back to her. It was my first visit to her and I felt extremely comfortable right off the bat. I would definitely recommend her, however would warn that the office itself isn't run the most efficiently.
Very helpful and knowledgeable
Great! She never assume you are okay. She will recommend the needed test and she will follow up if she doesn't hear from you! Great experience!
DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR. You will never be seen on time and will wait at least 30-45 minutes everytime. My first visit was 4.5 hours for a check up and a bladder infection. My second one was 3 hours for a sore throat. My third time (today) I was ten minutes late due to traffic and will now be seeing my doctor an hour after my scheduled appointment. No matter how good this doctor is, the incompetent staff and lack of promptness is not worth it.
Dr. Bakhru really listens to you and finds solutions to what you're asking for. My first physical in AWHILE so I didn't know what to expect and she walked me through everything. Very thorough! And the nurses are great too.
some of the girls at front desk were so careless and were managing things very poorly. They kept me waiting for more than half an hour and then Dr. had to divide my time with another patient because they reported that I was late!
Doctor Bakhru is nice, sharp and straight-forward. I didn't feel intimidated or awkward and she answered all my concerns. She is throughout and she also gave me many advice for preventive care. The nurses are very friendly as well. Overall a very good experience.
I was without professional advice for my health for more than 8 years. So when the time has come I took my time reading reviews to find a doctor that really takes his/her time listening to the patient and doesn't rush, as well as the level of knowledge and professionalism. Dr. Bakhru meets all my requirements and after my visit to her office, I can say that I wasn't wrong choosing her as my primary doctor. She took all the necessary steps to go over my overall health and also pointed to issues that I wasn't aware of. I'm very happy with Dr. Bakhru and she will be my primary care physician from now on. I highly recommend her.
The wait was far too long. Can't recommend
She was a delight and really made me feel ok with the situation. Amazing bedside manner and overall, made the entire visit pleasant. I will definitely come back to her!
She is very polite and helpful.
I would not recommend this doctor's office, nor will I being going back. I came here instead of my usual urgent care center when I wasn't feeling well because it is less of a co-pay. A few months later and I'm being billed A LOT OF DOUGH because they sent my lab work out of network. Furthermore, my health insurance company can't take action on fighting this bill because the doctor's office hasn't even submitted a claim yet and we can't get a hold of their billing department (this is 3 months ago). A few more complaints in addition to this inconvenience and unprofessionalism: -No soap in the bathroom, overall appearance of the office was dirty and unkempt -Receptionists were rude and unprofessional -Had to wait almost 1.5 hours in the waiting room, then another 45 in the visit room to see the doctor -Doctor was unconcerned with my symptoms (I thought I had strep and was running a fever) and was more concerned with retaining me as a patient, asking if I'd be interested in getting tested for certain cancer genes, speaking about our next visit, etc. At no point did I suggest that I would be electing her as a primary care physician, I was only there because I was sick. I'm sticking to City MD from now on. I'd rather cough up the extra co-pay to avoid all this hassle :(
I am extremely dissatisfied right from the Nurse till doctor Ashima.Nurse looked cunning to me.She did not even look at my face when she was asking me why I was here today.I was made to wait for close to 1 hour in the office and the nurse did not return after.I had to later go out of the room and ask her where the doctor is and she did not even respond and gave me a cold face.I went with a sore throat, cold, cough and it seemed like they cared less. When Dr.Ashima came in she did not even apologize for the long wait and went on to talk about an annual exam right away without even enquiring why I am here for.I am completely dissatisfied and will never ever go back again!
she is great but the waiting time is too long!!!!!!
She was really nice and super super SUPER thorough. way more thorough than most doctors I have had experiences with.
I enjoyed it. She was direct, thorough, and pleasant. I want to keep her as my PHP.
She was very thorough. She took her time and did not rush through anything. She noticed things that other doctors have not and was able to explain everything to me. She helped me with a sinus issue I have been having and gave me advice on minor concerns that I wasn't even planing on bringing up.
Everything went smoothly! Despite some of the reviews here, I had no wait time, everybody was calm and nice from Michelle the medical assistant to George, Denise and Dr Bakhru.
She's super friendly and easy to talk to - great bedside manner! She also noticed a lot of things that my previous PCPs either haven't seen or have quickly dismissed. This is extremely reassuring because it shows that she's really careful and wants to take the time to make sure that everything looks ok. Never felt once that I was just being rushed out the door
I went in to treatment of a sinus infection, and was given a 20 min lecture on my family's breast cancer history. While I appreciate doctor's being diligent, there was no question on if I visit a gynecologist regularly and if this breast concerns were addressed by that doctor. Her questions/comments felt pointed and condescending at times. I was in the office for over 2 hours, in the middle of the work day. The reception experience was also less than desirable. After waiting 30 minutes I had to ask the front desk if I need to fill out paper work because I was a new patient. The examination chair was torn and duct taped.
Not clear about why she issued two tests.
Warm and caring doctor! Answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently.
she was very nice and explained things clearly. I really liked her. I did not like the fact that I had to wait 2 hours to see her.
I thought she was very through, smart, nice and comforting. Her bedside manner was excellent! She asked a lot of questions to get a clear understanding of my personal and families medical history. She would explain in detail everything she'd check for on me physically, as well as, all the different blood tests she'd run. She took her time with and constantly asked if I had any questions/concerns, and I never felt rushed.
I love Dr. B. She was thorough and had excellent bedside manner. The nurse practioners were friendly and very efficient. The major problem is the front desk. I waited over an hour and a half see see the doctor. I kept asking in the waiting room about the wait so I could let my office know and only received eye rolls and shrugs. Pretty rude. Checking out took twenty minutes with little to no explanation. At one point I had no idea if I was going to be fully checked out because the front desk attendant that was helping me said to her coworker "it was time for her to go." The waiting room bathroom looked like a gas station restroom, smell of urine and was dirty. Overall I look forward to my visit with Dr B again I just hope that there are vast improvements to assure that the front desk is on par with the rest of the office.
Dr Bakhru is very professional, and kind!
Dr. Bakhru made me feel very comfortable. She made sure to thoroughly answer all my questions.
She was very thorough and had amazing bedside manner. I plan on going back.
Dr. bakhru was very professional and thorough. Very nice as well, and answered all my questions.
I arrived 15 minutes prior to appt even though I had filled out all required paperwork online. I was called in right at my appt time! Nurse was great and efficient. Dr. Bakhru seemed like she genuinely cared. Was open to any questions, concerns and was thorough in her explanations. The office itself was "meh", but the Dr. was wonderful! Great experience. And I just love the ease of Zocdoc.
I've had two very pleasant meetings with Dr. Bakhru. She is courteous, efficient, and I left both times feeling confident I was taking care of. As other reviewers have noted, she does speak quickly, but she never rushed me and made a point each visit to ask if I had any questions and told me to take my time when I spoke. She walked me through each step of my visit, my test results and the treatment she recommended. I appreciated her approach to medicine, preferring to try drug-less treatment first when possible (at least for my specific needs). She seemed thorough, recommending a second test to verify some numbers, and was considerate of my individual needs when choosing prescription options. The clinic itself seems to be a busy clinic with a variety of patrons. I waited less than 20 min each visit to be called from the waiting room, and wasn't left alone for more than about 10-15 minutes at a time between nurses, the doctor, and the x-ray technician. There was a short line at the front desk once when I was checking out once, but it moved quickly. The staff was very friendly to me and others. I witnessed one worker at the front desk getting a little short with a patient, but in fairness the patient seemed disgruntled and impatient. The facility was not a showroom - the decor is clinical and the furnishings were a little worn and dated - but everything seemed clean and relatively tidy. Overall I had a good experience and am planning to keep Dr. Bakhru as my primary care physician.
Thorough and professional. The only thing I would say is that she needs to better communicate what she expects from you after the visit- I am still waiting on results and diagnosis.
Very caring and compassionate
She is very thorough and covered a lot of bases. Also very friendly and I felt comfortable with her. I would go back to her.
Dr. Bakhru is very proactive when it comes to preventive medicine. I think she must be very smart because she talks quite quickly and it seems like her brain just moves at lightning pace. She carries her ipad with her and puts in all your info and looks up things like which medications might not work well together before she prescribes anything. She did extremely thorough testing on me when I first came in for my annual physical. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Bakhru was amazing, very caring and she had a great bedside manner. While I did have to wait an exorbitant amount of time to see the doctor and get all my tests done, my experience with Dr. Bakhru more than made up for it.
She was really attentive and thorough! Never felt more comfortable and more cared for by a doctor than I did with Dr. B!
Dr. Bakhru really took time with me and took my questions very seriously. She was very thoughtful in her answering of my questions and I felt like I could actually have a constructive, intelligent conversation with her regarding my health.
Dr. Bakhru is pleasent, she follows up on any problems and she gives a full physical exam. She is a thorough physician and I feel taken care of by her.
Amazing !! I am only 19 years old she is very smart !! Made me feel extremely comfortable in every way possible she is now my primary doctor for sure!
She was so thorough and gave me so much time! she was so kind and intelligent.
Very good experience. I've seen Dr. Bakhru three times now and I will keep coming back. She is thorough and attentive. She spends time explaining things, and has excellent bedside manner.
Dr. Bakhru has wonderful bedside manner. She makes sure to address all possible concerns by looking back at previous visits and notes. Wait time can sometimes be long but I think she is worth it.
The wait was about an hour, and I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment. The beds are duct taped. They have you walk out of your private room with the gown on even if their are other patients walking about which is extremely uncomfortable. You have to carry your clothes, and bra with you to the other rooms. Honestly do not believe I will be returning for my follow up appointments.
she was nice and thorough. the office workers are a bit rude and unhelpful.
She was very thorough and quite lovely.
Too long of a wait, for not much of a reason. I arrived at 7:30a one morning for my appt, and wasn't seen by the time my shift for work started at 9:30a. Thank goodness I worked 2 blocks away from this place. Literally, two blocks.
Dr. Bakhru is amazing. She takes time to listen, answer your questions, and go over you results in-depth. With that said, the nurses and front desk are a nightmare. I have been the only patient in the waiting room, yet waited 50-80 minutes! Forget asking the front desk if you're next. They're busy singing songs and talking about personal problems to acknowledge your existence. Twice, my arm was bruised purple after a blood test by the nurses and for a week, I could barely move my arm. I'm neither anemic, nor has this happened in the past. I'm always torn whether or not I should put up with these "side effects" so I can see a great doctor.
Dr. Bakhru was attentive, spent time to explain things to me, and made sure that I had a thorough annual checkup. One of the best doctors I have had yet.
While the office was fine, I was disappointed in her bedside manner. I felt like she was making assumptions about my lifestyle without actually asking me questions.
She was not very helpful. She talked a lot but didn't hit the point. Not recommended
The wait was very long!!!
Dr Bakhru, is great! I went in for an annual physical. Not only was she through she made me feel like she cared and was very personable. She explained everything when I went in to the follow up and she remembered things we had talked about 2 weeks ago in my appt. I needed the physical report for work and she was very prompt with getting it to my employer.
This was a great visit. I saw Dr. Bakhru for an infection but she was proactive and completed a thorough physical examination. She was very attentive about my concerns.
Dr. Bakhru was very kind and thorough. I could tell she was busy but she still took the time to answer all of my questions and make sure I got the necessary referrals. I'd definitely recommend her!
very thouriugh and knowledgable...
The waiting room was nice as well as the receptionist, which provided me with false hope and security as the rest of my experience was uncomfortable and rather unclean. The bathrooms all smelled of urine since the urine sample collection basket (complete with a pee pad) was just on the floor. There was no art, duct-taped examination tables, dirty walls, NO SOAP in the bathroom or exam room. I know it takes a little effort to make a place feel comfortable and clean but I don't think it is too much to ask for.
Overall great appointment and treated me for everything I had asked for plus more which the doctor recommended. Will definitely visit Dr. Bakhru again.
Wonderful doctor and extremely good bedside manner. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I was looking for a new PCP and I think I found one!
Great dr, horrible office!
Excellent Dr. - I've decided to keep her as my primary care. Her medical assistant was so professional I did not get her name but it makes a big difference when the ancillary staff is as good as the doctor.
She was extremely friendly and very thorough. She explained everything she was doing and explained why she was doing it and was able to answer all of my questions. Additionally, she mentioned that she always offers her female patients a breast exam which was so amazing and personally made me feel more at ease and confident in Dr. Bakhru that she truly cares for her patients health and well-being. I'd highly recommend her to anyone!
Dr B was very nice, thorough and understanding. I told her that I was in a rush because I had to run back to work and she try to examine me as quickly as possible. Even though she went quickly, she was still every thorough and explain everything to me. Highly recommend!!
Dr Bakhru is great - very thorough and sweet. The wait times are usually nearly an hour which can be frustrating and Mondays seem to be the busiest days.
Dr. Bakhru is great and I am going to keep going to her. But I agree with the other reviewers regarding some of the staff here. The female at the front desk (not the receptionist) was rude to everybody that came in, to the other staff, and to people on the phone. I even heard the F word come out of her mouth while I was waiting in the waiting room. I cannot fathom why she hasn't been taken to task over it before now. She's a liability. Some of the other staff too are nice but don't act very professional. The wait time to be seen each and every time is also greater than I have experienced anywhere else. But finding a good doctor that you like and trust can be hard so I guess you just put up with the other stuff until you can't stand it any longer.
See took a look at my insurance card and said I was covered, but boy was that a lie. Zoc doc didn't have updated info on their site, nor did she know and I got stuck with a HUGE bill. Never going back.
I will definitely see her again Dr. Bakhru was kind, took time to fully explain things.
Yes, great personality and informative.
She was thorough, professional and polite. I just wish the the whole process hadn't taken almost 3 hours. I did have several tests done, but I have never been at a dr for more than 2 hours when having tests done. Other than that, the service and staff was wonderful!
Despite having to wait for quite a while to see the doctor, she was quite thorough, so I was okay with her. My issues with this office, however, are as follows: 1. One of the staff members was EXTREMELY rude to me and another patient, 2. The long wait was not even acknowledged. A routine dr. appt shouldn't take me nearly 2 hours, and 3. The office is definitely a bit dilapidated and dirty (tape holding the exam table together, etc.). I will think again before coming to this office for my next appointment.
Wait time was almost two hours. Absolutely ridiculous. That said, Dr Bakhru was really sweet and very thorough.
She is patient, attentive . took the time to explain all the result. I have recommended her to several of my colleagues and they were happy with her services.
I felt like every time I was in the office, she added unnecessary things to what I was asking for. I'm a generally healthy young person. She didn't listen very well, so found a new doctor.
Fast, friendly, professional, and made me feel very at ease and comfortable.
First time with this doctor. Great, sweet, informative, and caring.
She was so sweet and kind. Spoke a bit fast but she listened to everything I needed to say and ask.
Make sure you are not getting out during work hours if you have a busy day. 1 hour 25 minutes - waiting time. Overall visit - close to 3 hours. Doctor was very attentive and comprehensive. She showed a lot of care and put in the time to go through everything. Staff however was not good. They seemed careless at doing their job and did not communicate what the delay was or how long it would take to be seen.
Love her! Haven't had such an incredibly thorough doctor in a long time!
