Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ashley Matthews practices general medical and cosmetic dermatology. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and got her doctoral degree at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Matthews has published notable research in her field in the areas of Mohs Surgery for skin cancer, nerve repair, plastic surgery outcomes, and stem cell research. She has served as a resident lecturer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and has donated her personal time toward conducting skin cancer screenings in the community. Dr. Matthews is looking forward to deepening her ties in the Nashville community and serving patients of all ages, skin types and skin conditions for many years to come.

I appreciated the quickness of the appointment; however, it did feel very rushed. I wasn’t able to ask all my questions and to the questions I did ask, I received vague and flippant answers. I did not feel listened to at all. Thankfully, I went into the appointment knowing what medication I wanted, but I still had a few other questions and concerns I wanted to address, but there was no opportunity made for me to do so. Before I even fully asked one of my questions, I was cut off with an answer that wasn’t relevant to the question. I tried to follow up and clarify what I was asking, but she had already stood up and was walking towards the door. If you want a quick appointment and to get a specific med or refill, this would be a great visit. However, if you have questions or concerns and would like someone to take their time and listen intently without feeling rushed, I wouldn’t recommend this provider.

Dr. Ashley was over 30 minutes late to my scheduled appointment. My appointment was scheduled at 2pm and she came in at 2:35pm and was in the room with me for about 6 minutes. She barely looked at my skin and was throwing words at me that I did not understand. Her nurse was in the room longer than she was. I was very disappointed with my experience and will never go back to her. I decided to book an appointment with her because of her excellent profile on the website and drove over an hour to be seen by this doctor, however she was nothing but unimpressive. If you just want to book a quick 5 minute appointment, she is your doctor. As a first timer at a dermatology office, it was a terrible experience.

I would go back to the office but I won’t make an appointment with her. She spent only 2- or 3 minutes, didn’t have patience to listen to our concerns. We forgot our questions about the medication that my son is taking right now now.

Ashely Matthews was very unprofessional and didn’t want to treat me. I felt rushed and my visit was a waste of my time. I will never go back and I don’t recommend her care.
