Dr. Benjamin L. Bick grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and worked throughout the Midwest before returning home in 2025. Dr. Bick received his combined Bachelor’s and Medical Degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic. He then completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also served as the Chief Fellow. He then completed an additional fellowship in Advanced Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy at Indiana University under the tutelage of one of the original founders of ERCP in North America, where he later became the Director of the Pancreatic Duct Stone Program. Dr. Bick has a broad interest in digestive disease and endoscopy, with special interests in biliary disease, pancreatic diseases, and gastrointestinal oncology. He is experienced in managing complex pancreatitis including chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic necrosis. He has advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with fine needle aspiration/biopsy (FNA/FNB), celiac plexus block/neurolysis, sphincter of Oddi manometry, biliary and pancreatic ductoscopy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and intraductal lithotripsy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), endoscopic drainage/necrosectomy, endoluminal stenting, and endoscopic suturing. Dr. Bick has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He is a recipient of a Young Investigator Award from the American Pancreatic Association and has mentored multiple award winners at national gastroenterology meetings. Dr. Bick's interests outside of medicine include music (he plays piano, cello, and guitar), Chicago sports, Asian culture, gaming, and spending time with family.
