Getting to know Dr. Bernadette Demuri
Bernadette DeMuri is the Medical Director of Associated Mental Health Consultants and The TMS Center of Wisconsin. She is a graduate of Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. DeMuri completed residencies in both Psychiatry and Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.
She is board certified in General Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine. She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. DeMuri has had extensive experience in community mental health, consultation liaison psychiatry and private practice psychiatry. Her interests include the treatment of mood disorders, including treatment resistant depression.
Dr. DeMuri has expertise in the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation for depression, being the first psychiatrist in the state to offer this technology in 2010.
She has published several articles and book chapters on the treatment of mood disorders and has presented on the topic at national conferences.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Please only schedule with us if you meet the following criteria:
-Have a history of being diagnosed with depression (Major -Depressive Disorder)
-Have tried at least 2 antidepressant medications without successful results
-Have tried therapy without successful results
-Have no metal in your neck or head that would prevent you from getting an MRI
- Have no implantable medical devices in your chest or neck
Additionally, we will be unable to treat you if either of the following applies to you:
-Have a history of being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder
-Have Medicaid insurance of any kind, including HMOs (Please note that Medicaid is also known as "state insurance," ForwardHealth, and BadgerCare)
