What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach treatment as a partnership. My goal is to provide a respectful, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly about your symptoms, concerns, and goals. During our first visits, I take time to understand the full picture, including your psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, current medications, sleep, stressors, substance use, and daily functioning. Treatment is individualized, and I explain the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives before we make decisions together. A particular medication or treatment is not automatically prescribed during the first appointment. Recommendations depend on the clinical evaluation and what is safe and appropriate for your needs. Honest feedback is encouraged because it helps us evaluate progress and adjust the treatment plan over time. When helpful and with your permission, I may coordinate with your therapist, primary care clinician, or other members of your healthcare team.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We discuss your current concerns, symptoms, treatment history, medical conditions, medications, substance use, relationships, daily functioning, and goals for care. I may also review relevant records or coordinate with other clinicians when appropriate and authorized. After the evaluation, we develop a personalized treatment plan together. Depending on your needs, this may include medication management, education about your condition, behavioral or lifestyle recommendations, treatment for substance use disorders, referrals for psychotherapy, or coordination with other healthcare professionals. Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring symptoms, medication response, possible side effects, safety, and progress toward your goals. Treatment is adjusted as needed, and the frequency of visits depends on your condition, treatment plan, and clinical needs. Throughout the process, I use a trauma-informed and collaborative approach so that you understand your options and remain actively involved in decisions about your care.
