Getting to know Dr. Billy Jones

Dr. Jones has a small practice and, as a result, does not accept insurances. He is a seasoned, board-certified psychiatrist who earned his Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College. He completed his residency in psychiatry at New York Medical College and holds a master's degree from New York University. Dr. Jones has served as President/CEO of NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation; Commissioner of the NYC Department of Mental Health; Medical Director at Lincoln Hospital; and was Senior Associate Dean at New York Medical College, where he was also a Professor of Psychiatry. He is the author of numerous articles, chapters, and books on treating African Americans and LGBTQ members. Dr. Jones is a coeditor of the recently published book, *BLACK MENTAL HEALTH: Patients, Providers, and Systems*. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the American College of Psychiatrists, and the New York Academy of Medicine, and is a Past President of the Black Psychiatrists of America. Currently, he serves as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
