About Dr. Bruce Markman
Bruce Markman, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at The Ortho Spine Docs in Plano and Rowlett Texas.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Markman specializes in arthroscopies, shoulder reconstruction surgeries, and procedures involving the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle. He is fellowship-trained in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder, foot, and ankle surgeries.
Athletes and patients of all ages repeatedly choose Dr. Markman for his surgical expertise and compassionate approach—treating each individual with the care he would give his own family. In 2016 and 2017, D Magazine recognized him as one of the best doctors in Dallas.
Dr. Markman earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel (with additional education at the State University of New York). He completed his surgical internship at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco. He then pursued a fellowship in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder, foot, and ankle surgeries at the West Coast Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in Manhattan Beach, California.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Markman has served as team physician for the Tulsa Oilers (East Coast Hockey League) and the Tulsa Shock (Women’s National Basketball Association) in Oklahoma. Today, he remains dedicated to helping athletes and patients of all kinds regain an active, pain-free lifestyle.

There was a bit of wait before we saw him, however, it was well worth the wait! He was very knowledgeable, he took his time with us, and he answered all of the questions we had. He made sure we understood everything and the visit never seemed rushed. We would definitely recommend Dr. Markman!

HIghly recommend Dr. Markman! Wait time in lobby is long because he spends so much time with you. I'd suggest they schedule fewer patients per hour to accommodate this. I had shoulder surgery last week, and I'd never go to anyone else. He's new to Dallas but is the best!

Dr. Markman is awesome. I went in for a routine follow up from a dislocated knee injury from last summer and he immediately knew something was wrong. He listened to the concerns I had with the results that were given to me by the original Dr. and ensured me, my suspensions were right. I thought I had tore some ligaments and wanted a MRI. Dr. Markman agreed and sure enough, my ACL is torn. The other Doctor kept telling me it was fine, but he wouldn't take my concerns into consideration.
I really appreciate the time Dr. Markman took out for me!
