Getting to know Carla Pottmeyer
Hi there, I'm Carla!
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who sees children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. I am certified both in West Virginia and Ohio as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. I love what I do and think most of us just need that extra care to address mental health and move forward to a life you love.
My approach
I utilize a lot of motivational interviewing, person centered approach, and addressing distorted thought patterns with cognitive behavioral therapy. I practice holistically addressing the mind, body, and environment.
My focus
I see persons from the age of six to 110! My specialty areas include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, panic, OCD, and more.
My communication style
My specialty is is normalizing mental health care. I want everyone to feel that there is no shame in treating the most important thing in the world! When you meet with me, my hope is that you will feel like you are talking with a friend who cares about you and your future.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been in the nursing field for over 25 years and have a passion for others and the struggles that come along with life's challenges. My goal is for every person to feel cared for and comfortable when there is a need for medication management and psychotherapy. I have struggled with mental health at times as well as family members. I have been the person dismissed and made to feel alone. I never want anyone to feel that and always want you to feel like someone is in your corner.

Although goal setting is sometimes difficult, it is important that we set goals so that YOU can see the progress in your life. Sometimes those goals are baby steps, but we will cheer you on and keep on making them!
