What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Cecilia Fitz-Gerald practices at Talkiatry, a patient-centered, online psychiatry practice. Talkiatry providers specialize in medication management and treat a wide range of mental health conditions. They take a personalized approach to care, ensuring that treatment is rooted in a strong patient-provider relationship and a responsible, evidence-based approach to prescribing. We know that every mental health journey is unique, and we’re here to make yours feel manageable and supported at every step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a comprehensive first visit, where you and your provider will discuss your goals, medical history, and what brings you to treatment. From there, you’ll work with your provider to create a care plan that feels right for you, which may include medication, therapy, or both. If your provider recommends medication, they’ll walk you through your options—our goal is always to help you make informed choices about your care. You’ll meet with your provider regularly for follow-up visits to check in, adjust your care as needed, and make sure you feel supported in your journey.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I went with an MD instead of a PA or NP because I wanted someone who knew what they were talking about.

Very easy to talk to. Evaluation was very helpful. She explained everything throughly. Would recommend!
Everything went great, I am very excited to have a great doctor to work with.

I scheduled a virtual appointment through Zocdoc and was told the doctor would contact me at the scheduled time. When the time came, I never received a call or link. After waiting, I contacted the office myself and was told the appointment had been cancelled — yet I never received any notification. This was extremely frustrating, especially since I scheduled the appointment because I needed care. Being left waiting with no communication is very upsetting and unprofessional.

She was such a great listener

Dr. Fitz-Gerald was clear, direct, and thoughtful. She was patient with technical issues using telehealth and expressed a desire to continue and complete the appointment despite this. She was kind and empathetic, which a lot of psychiatrists lack. Dr. Fitz-Gerald was helpful in explaining her process, next steps, and ensured my concerns were addressed.

Dr Fitz-Gerald is excellent! I usually prefer NPs, their nursing background makes them (usually ) more well rounded. However, Dr Fitz-Gerald was kind, competent and understanding. She was very thorough, I can’t recall an assessment that comprehensive. She was kind enough to share information about me I was unaware of, which I greatly appreciated. When I had to leave the country in short order, she took care of my meds with the pharmacist on a Friday! I highly recommend Dr.Fitz-Gerald.
