Chanell’ Dorris, FNP-C is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner credentialed through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2012. As a Registered Nurse, she worked as a school nurse in Chester, Pa and later moved to the Hampton Roads area and began working as a medical-surgical nurse. After perfecting basic nursing skills, Chanell’ moved into the maternal-newborn space where she took exceptional care of mommies and their infants during the antepartum and postpartum period. Chanell’ attended Walden University and obtained her Master of Science degree in nursing in August of 2017 while working full-time. She passed her certification exam shortly there-after. Her time on the mother-baby hospital units is where her love for the women’s health field really grew. Chanell’ has met and taken care of females from infancy to geriatrics and has learned so much about their needs, desires and struggles throughout the lifespan. Her passion for helping people be and feel their best selves is what motivates her.
Chanell’ is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was a graduate inductee into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nurses with high academic excellence. She has earned several Excellence in Customer Service Awards from the facilities where she has worked. In her free time she enjoys bowling, trips to the beach, concerts and music festivals and spending quality time with family and friends.
