Charisse Fullwood, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a comprehensive background in women’s mental health, hormone optimization, and aesthetic medicine . Her unique career path spans over a decade in cosmetology and aesthetics, followed by years of clinical experience in psychiatric care, labor and delivery, and women’s health—positioning her at the intersection of mind-body wellness and confidence-driven care. Before entering advanced practice nursing, Charisse spent 10 years as a licensed cosmetologist and aesthetic professional. This early foundation honed her eye for detail, artistry, and her passion for helping individuals look and feel their best. Her transition into healthcare was driven by a desire to go deeper—supporting not just outer beauty, but also the internal hormonal and emotional balance that underpins lasting wellness.
Charisse’s clinical background includes hands-on experience in labor and delivery and women’s health, giving her a deep understanding of the hormonal transitions that impact women throughout life—particularly during pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. I am a board-certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with clinical experience spanning the full continuum of psychiatric care (ACUTELOCUM levels) as well as labor & delivery, antepartum, and postpartum settings. This background provides a comprehensive understanding of mental health across life stages, particularly the physiological and psychological transitions unique to women.
2. Experience across diverse and high-acuity environments
My work as a psychiatric travel nurse exposed me to a wide range of clinical environments, patient populations, and care models. This experience strengthened my ability to assess risk, maintain clinical clarity, and deliver consistent, evidence-based psychiatric care within clearly defined boundaries.
3. A decade of experience in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine
In addition to my psychiatric training, I bring over 10 years of experience in cosmetology and aesthetics. This foundation informs my understanding of skin health, facial anatomy, self-image, and the psychological impact of appearance—allowing for a nuanced, respectful approach to aesthetic and wellness care.
4. Integrated mind-and-body care under one provider

What is your typical process for working with clients?
1. Comprehensive initial assessment
New patients may undergo a structured psychiatric assessment to determine appropriateness of care and ensure alignment with the scope of this practice. Assessments and follow-up visits may be conducted virtually or in clinic, depending on clinical need and patient preference.
2. Team-supported, physician-led model
During in-clinic visits, patients may first meet with a clinical transcriber with psychiatric experience who assists with documentation, history gathering, and clinical workflow. This allows for accuracy, efficiency, and continuity of care.
3. Direct clinical decision-making by me
All psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, medication decisions, and follow-ups are personally conducted and overseen by me. After the clinical intake portion, patients will have a focused visit with me to review findings, discuss treatment options, and make informed, individualized decisions.
4. Ongoing follow-ups and monitoring
Follow-up appointments are scheduled as clinically appropriate and may occur virtually or in person. These visits are designed to monitor response, adjust treatment when necessary, and ensure continued stability and safety.
5. Efficient, respectful use of time

I waited for 30+ minutes in the waiting room and didn't get seen at all. I couldn't wait any longer as I had to leave to pick up my partner from work, so I'm incredibly disappointed that I was unable to be seen when I had even joined the waiting room 5 minutes prior to my appointment. If I book again, I'll be sure to block out my calendar to wait.
