Dr. Charles Wykoff grew up in Northern California and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology from Oxford University in England while on a Marshal scholarship. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. As a medical student he co-authored the book, "Fighting Global Blindness". Dr. Wykoff completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the top rated eye hospital in the country; while there he was awarded a Heed Fellowship and the Ronald G. Michels Foundation Award, the nations highest honor for a retina surgery fellow. Following fellowship, Dr. Wykoff served on the Balcom Palmer faculty as Chief Resident and Co-Director of Ocular Trauma. Dr. Wykoff's research interest pertain to endophthalmitis, angiogenesis, and vitreoretinal surgery topics including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopthay, and macular holes. Dr. Wykoff's research has resulted in over 60 combined peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, book chapters and national meeting presentations. Dr. Wykoff spends his free time with his family including two children. He is an active triathlete and loves to travel.
