Sears Award for clinical and surgical excellence in ophthalmology. Dr. Mohsenin went on to complete a 2-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which has been ranked #1 by US News & World Report for more than a decade. Dr. Mohsenin previously served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at UT Health where he trained numerous medical students and ophthalmology residents and received the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award in 2019. In addition to taking care of patients while at UT Health, Dr. Mohsenin was awarded a $1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop new therapies for macular degeneration. Dr. Mohsenin is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has authored numerous scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters (see Dr. Mohsenin’s CV here for a full list). He has also taught a course at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting. When Dr. Mohsenin isn’t seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing tennis and attending his son’s chess tournaments. He is also fluent in Farsi.
