Cheryl entered into health care as a teenager and continues to be a life-long learner. She has worked in a variety of specialties, including ICU, home health, palliative care, adult primary care as a nurse practitioner, and now has found her “home” working in mental health. Cheryl has also been a Certified Yoga Teacher for 20 years and has created programs in Cardiac Rehab and for trauma survivors. Ms. McDonald graduated with Honors from the University of Illinois with her BSN, from University of Alabama with Honors with a MSN, and from the University of Cincinnati with Honors with a Post Master’s Certificate. Additionally, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology with Honors from the University of South Florida. Cheryl enjoys animals of all kinds and is pleased to help support a local domestic violence shelter which has included a pet shelter as part of their services. She has a long history in holistic health care and is currently working with equine therapists. Cheryl has a particular interest in helping those suffering grief and loss and is working on a book to help both the general public and nursing students address this inevitable issue.
