"I believe that mental health is a significant aspect of overall well-being that affects individuals, families, and communities worldwide. Mental disorders are prevalent, and they have a significant impact on an individuals' daily lives, relationships, and ability to function effectively. I was raised in a country where mental health discussions were a taboo and people often go undiagnosed and untreated because they did not have access to mental health providers. I made a promise to myself that I would dedicate my life to helping individuals especially those struggling with mental illness. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Towson University in Maryland. Then I obtained a Master’s of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania. I began my career as a Nurse Practitioner her career in rural North Carolina, where I encountered a diverse array of patients struggling with chronic medical illness, behavioral health issues, and substance use disorders. This experience was pivotal, as I witnessed firsthand the impact of social determinants on mental health. My commitment to holistic care motivated me to be an advocate for integrated treatment approaches that addressed chronic medical illnesses, mental health, and substance use disorders. I decided to seek additional training in psychiatric mental health. I proceeded to obtain a Doctorate degree and a psychiatric mental health certification from the University of North Florida and Liberty University respectively. These graduate studies were marked by intensive clinical training, where I developed a strong foundation in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health disorders. I founded “Anora Health” with the goal of treating individuals with behavioral health issues and substance use disorders, combining psychotherapy, medication management, and lifestyle interventions, and combating the stigma surrounding mental health discussion.
