About Dr. Christina Steinhauser
Dr. Christina Steinhauser is a former Chief of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at Nellis Air Force Base, a current assistant professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, and a former assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton Campus, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Wright State University, and pursued a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
As an active-duty physician in the US Air Force for 11 years before joining United Medical Doctors, she received multiple meritorious awards, including a joint Army-Navy service award and an Army Commendation Medal during her deployment in Germany.
A respected mentor, teacher, and clinician, Dr. Steinhauser was named Teaching Faculty of the Year by the Family Medicine residency at Nellis Air Force Base in 2024. She remains active faculty at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and has contributed nationally to gastroenterology education by serving on the American College of Gastroenterology’s Education Universe Editorial Board for seven years.
She offers in-office procedures for managing chronic abdominal pain, including trigger point abdominal wall injections, and uses Battlefield acupuncture techniques (small needles placed on the ear for pain management). Valuing innovation and academics, she has presented numerous posters at the American College of Gastroenterology, earning an award for outstanding poster presentation, and contributed to several publications.
Originally from Southern California, Dr. Steinhauser is proud to represent her community’s expanding access to care as one of a small number of Latina gastroenterologists practicing in the US. She believes patients should feel supported at all stages and, as a native Spanish speaker, offers appointments in both Spanish and English.

Dr. Steinhauser is pure joy bundled up an adorable woman, which was absolutely unexpected when scheduling a colonoscopy. ?? Her demeanor makes it feel like you're chit-chatting with one of your girlfriend, all the while she is delivering all the necessary information. I'm so grateful to have found a doctor who is highly qualified, intellectual and able to deliver the message in a amicable manner.

Went to Dr. Steinhauser for a IBS consultation. I avoid going to doctors because of past bad experiences but this was nothing like that, she made me feel totally safe and heard. She is a great listener and seems extremely educated and passionate about her field! Highly recommend her if you are looking for a GI specialist:)
