About Dr. Christopher Ornelas

Christopher C. Ornelas, MD, is an assistant professor of clinical orthopaedic surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Ornelas specializes in the treatment of non-operative spinal disorders. Dr. Ornelas earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After graduation, he completed his medical internship at the University of New Mexico University Hospital, and his residency at the UCLA/WLA Multicampus training program. Dr. Ornelas went on to complete a fellowship in Interventional Spine Medicine at the UCLA Spine Center in Santa Monica, CA. Dr. Ornelas maintained a private practice, while continuing to be active in the training of resident and fellows at both Cedars Sinai Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, prior to joining the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Keck. Dr. Ornelas has received numerous awards for academic excellence during his medical school and residency training, and was awarded an Outstanding Clinic Consultant teaching award by the UCLA/WLA Multicampus Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training program. He joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at USC in 2014.

I liked his clear helpful explanation on the purposes and benefits of certain treatment options. He was also very kind and gentle. His fellow is also very good as well. Both listened to me which is nice.

Dr. Ornelas always takes the time to listen to me. The Dr. always talks to me as and equal and really it is a two way discussion. The Dr knows I like detail and he's always more than happy to explain. His staff as well are very professional and courteous. All around it's just a great experience.
