Getting to know Dr. Christopher Sorensen

I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who believes mental health care should be as unique as the person receiving it. I completed my medical degree at The Ohio State University in 2010 and have worked in diverse settings—pharmacies, clinics, start-ups, and hospitals—across the world. My approach is patient-centered, incorporating each individual’s culture, identity, beliefs, and medical background into a treatment plan that supports real and lasting change. What should a new client know about working with you?

I view mental health care as a collaboration. Together, we’ll explore your goals, preferences, and any barriers to wellness so we can design a plan that fits your life. I provide medication management, brief therapy, and coordination with other providers when needed. For my transgender and nonbinary patients, I offer gender-affirming care including hormone therapy and surgery evaluations. I also treat complex and treatment-resistant depression with options such as TMS, ketamine, and Spravato, and can refer patients to research-based psychedelic treatments when appropriate.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first visit, we’ll take time to understand your story—your symptoms, life context, and what you hope to achieve. From there, we’ll develop a tailored plan that may include medication, therapy, and lifestyle recommendations. I aim to simplify treatments wherever possible, balancing effectiveness with quality of life. My goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered as you take the next steps toward wellness.

After scheduling your appointment, you will receive an email from Stella Mental Health (formerly Numinus) containing your intake paperwork. Please allow about 30 minutes to complete this form. Your responses will help your provider prepare for your upcoming appointment. All patients are required to complete the intake form 24 business hours before their appointment. You will receive a phone call from one of our dedicated Care Advocates, who can answer any questions you may have. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to keep on file for co-pays or cancellation fees. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full intake appointment fee ($450). During your intake appointment, you’ll spend 60 minutes with your provider collaborating on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If in-person treatments are recommended—such as TMS, Spravato, DSR SGB, or ketamine therapy—our care team will guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
