Getting to know Dr. Clayton Curts

I'm Dr. Clay Curts, a psychiatrist with a passion for helping people navigate life's challenges. My areas of expertise include anxiety and mood disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, Trauma and PTSD, and ADHD. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and based on a combination of science and empathy. I believe good psychiatric care starts with truly understanding your story, not just treating your symptoms. Whether you're starting medication or just exploring the possibility, my goal is to make you feel comfortable, heard, and empowered. We'll work together to clarify what's getting in the way and move toward what matters most to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a space where you're comfortable being honest about what you're experiencing, without any judgment or pressure. My style is conversational, thoughtful, and collaborative. I take time to understand your history, values, and goals so we can build a plan that makes sense for you. Whether you're exploring therapy, medication, or a combination of both, I aim to support you in a way that feels respectful and empowering. We'll work at your pace, and I’ll offer guidance grounded in both clinical training and real empathy. Your voice matters in the process, and I'm here to help you move toward clarity, relief, and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll take the time to get to know you—your concerns, your history, and what brings you in now. I conduct a thorough diagnostic evaluation to understand not just symptoms, but the bigger picture of your emotional, social, and physical health. From there, we’ll discuss options for treatment, which may include talk therapy, medication, or both, depending on your needs and preferences. I do incorporate elements of therapy into my sessions and value open, ongoing conversation as part of the healing process. Follow-ups are collaborative and focused on tracking progress, adjusting the plan when needed, and helping you feel more in control of your mental health.
