“I’ve been looking for a virtual psych provider for weeks. I did a lot of research and read SO MANY horrific reviews. Zocdoc was recommended by another provider. I checked out Zocdoc’s website and was pleasantly surprised. I read a lot of positive reviews from most of their providers. That’s when I came across Corey McCormick, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. He had great reviews and his cash pay price was very reasonable for the initial appointment as well as follow up visits. The greatest part is he was actually available the same evening which was perfect for me so I didn’t have time to overthink and cancel my appointment. Our appointment was for a hour. He was a great listener and really understood what I’ve been struggling with recently. I could tell he genuinely cares about his patients and was very thorough. He was also easy to understand. I couldn’t have found a better provider for my mental health. My only regret is that I didn’t make an appointment sooner.”

Getting to know Cory Mccormick

I want to start by letting you know that I come from a blended family. We value nonjudgmental views and respect all opinions, but we keep our opinions separate from personal and certainly professional matters. As a clinician with a Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Regis College, I believe in openness and avoiding conflict and hot-topic social stressors. I believe that you and I can travel down a therapeutic road together. My ideal client is someone who values open and transparent communication, built upon a foundation of trust and rapport. I aim to work collaboratively with my clients to understand their past, current, and future goals and the values they place on them. For me, therapeutic relationships are a two-way street, which means that I pay close attention to finding the best possible care mechanism that I can provide. This is only made possible through the development of a strong and healthy relationship with my clients. I thoroughly enjoy building this relationship, as well as exploring ways to enhance our outcomes together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first thing is that I am a welcoming human being. I have traveled many roads and have had my share of mental health struggles. I believe that my life is a culmination of instilled values and lived experiences. Through my work of self-reflection, education, and strengthened resolve, I have reached a level where I value the life that I am living now with my family. I have learned to apply the fine art of motivational interviewing and psychotherapy. I believe that my down-to-earth approach has held value for my patients. My goal is to work with you to find strategies that may work. While psychopharmacology (medications) holds value, I also value ethical standards in prescribing. My goal will always be to serve your best interest. Medications do have a place in mental health, but sometimes a reductionist approach may be the goal. Some patients have done better with a stable medication regimen. My position will always be to do what is safe and effective while holding the best standards of practicing care with you." I hope this clears things up for you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our meeting, I will use this information to create a framework of you, for you. We can then discuss different treatment options, including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. If medication is needed, we can discuss any labs or evaluations required at that time. Follow-up meetings will be shorter, usually about 20-30 minutes, where we can discuss your progress and whether the strategies we have discussed are working. I always like to inform my patients that medication may be necessary, but it is not always the only solution. Some medications may take longer than others, and some may require more frequent monitoring. I understand that seeking help can be challenging, and I am committed to working hard to help you succeed. I value psychotherapy involvement in care and believe that it can be a powerful tool to help overcome challenges.

I highly recommend Cory McCormick. He was professional and kind. He listened to all my concerns without being dismissive.
It went well for being someone who’s been in active therapy for roughly 53 years

I scheduled through his portal, signed on before the appointed time, never heard him or saw him. He claimed that he does hold appointments on his day of the week, but HIS portal suggested he was available at that time and date, He claims that he signed on and never saw me. His portal service apparently has major tech problems. I desperately wanted to talk to a psychiatrist before I went inpatient, getting perhaps recommendations on a facility. Oh well...

I have been through different psychiatric issues, and I know how hard it is to find someone that will listen, when it comes to our bodies most of the time we know what works and what doesn’t. I appreciate the listening skills and I look forward to working with him for years to come! Geneva

So professional and yet I felt so comfortable and at ease. Cory is so kind and supportive. I feel I can talk with him open and freely without being judged. I would highly recommend!
I recently had the opportunity to undergo treatment with Cory McCormick, and it was an extraordinarily pleasant and transformative experience. The initial consultation was comprehensive yet comforting. He took the time to understand my personal history, challenges, and goals. The depth of their understanding and the empathy they exhibited set a positive tone for the sessions to follow. His expertise and compassionate approach created a safe space where I felt understood and supported. His ability to listen actively and respond with insightful feedback made each session productive and enlightening. Overall, my experience was exceptionally positive. The thoughtful, individualized approach, combined with skill and empathy, made a significant difference in my mental health journey. I wholeheartedly recommend Cory McCormick to anyone seeking a transformative and empowering therapeutic experience.
I met Cory through a mutual friend and I’m so thankful I did. I had been going through a rough time with the passing of my mother and didn’t realize my mental health was being affected as much it was. Cory is a great listener and provided the tools and resources to help me through. He is always great on following up and seeing how I’m doing and really being a supportive person.
Cory is welcoming, relateable, and non-judgmental. We worked together on goal setting and creating a treatment plan. I feel like he truly hears me. My visit left me refreshed and positive about what’s to come! I look forward to continuing working with him. It’s hard to find someone who “gets it.” Cory does.
