Dana Bennett, FNP

Nurse Practitioner
1995 Bethabara Rd, Winston-Salem, NC
Medicine is my second career. After a time working in college athletics, I realized I felt unfulfilled and decided to pursue nursing. I shadowed a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit. When I saw the difference she was making for her patients, I was hooked. I spent almost four years as a pediatric nurse, and two years working as a nurse in an ambulatory surgery center. I chose to specialize in family medicine so I could care for patients of all ages, but I will always have a special place in my heart for pediatrics. Now as a family medicine clinician, I work each day to make sure my patients feel heard, and to ensure they have the information they need about any treatments I suggest. I love being able to have open discussions, especially when they involve looking for ways to make lifestyle changes to treat problems so we can avoid future concerns. There is a time and place for medicine, but I see patients are often better off considering lifestyle changes to improve their overall health. I grew up in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, and I absolutely love living close to my family. My husband and I are fortunate to be raising our children with so much family around. Our son and daughter keep us busy. Our son plays baseball and basketball, and is on a swim team, and our daughter does gymnastics. It's a joy to spend time watching them have fun in their activities.
