Dr. Daniel Alicea is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, & member of the Division of Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He obtained his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He then completed his surgical residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Advanced Rhinology & Skull Base Surgery at the University of North Carolina.
As a fellowship-trained Rhinologist, he specializes in diseases of the paranasal sinuses & skull base. He performs endoscopic, minimally invasive surgery for the management of chronic sinusitis and sinonasal tumors. He has a particular interest in performing in-office rhinologic procedures, and is committed to providing the latest and most effective treatments for his patients.
His dedication to excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including being elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, & receiving the Chairman’s Award as a Chief Resident. He was also named by Super Doctors® Rising Stars 2025 as one of the top doctors in New York City.
He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, & the American Rhinologic Society, staying at the forefront of the latest developments in the field.

I did not have a great experience. The front desk staff are unfriendly. As soon as you walk in they have a attitude or give a nasty look as though they dont want to be there. I had an appointment with this provider and was asked to reschedule three different times! On all occasions because the audiologist decided to leave work early, not come in or chose not to see me due to coming 5 mins after my appointment which cause my entire appointment to be canceled. If they dont want to work then they should not be scheduling to see patients. The one time i did previously see the doctor, he was friendly, but seemed to rush the appointment. Overall was not a great experience due to the lack of care/ concern they have for their patients with the constant rescheduling.

Great experience with Dr. Alicea. However, he did not confirm the pharmacy before sending a prescription to Express Scripts, which I no longer use. Express Scripts was listed under a MyChart profile that I can no longer access, since several years ago. This resulted in delayed receipt of necessary medication. This could've been avoided if he had confirmed the pharmacy name and address prior to sending the prescription.

Went in for a second opinion on an upcoming septoplasty. I was told this was not his specialty, and that he does not deal with the tip of the nose. He was not able to answer many of the questions that I had, which was understandable given that was not his specialty. However, he did not give me any insight as to the questions he can answer. I essentially had to play a guessing game where I would ask a question and he’d either give me an answer if it fell in his specialty or tell me he couldn’t answer. He didn’t even offer to inspect my nose to see what the issue actually was, just sat silently waiting for me to ask questions I thought he might be able to answer. I felt as if I had achieved nothing by seeing him.
Front desk was also clueless as to how much the visit would cost.

Great doctor who listened carefully to what my problem was, did a patient and thorough exam, and gave me a simple treatment right in the office. Solved my issue and did so politely and kindly. 5/5 would recommend.

I came in for tonsil stones that was causing a sore throat. The doctor looked down my throat with a light and told me that I should buy a tonsil stone wash. I asked if there was an oral Medicial wash he could prescribe and he said just saline. I commuted for an hour to be seen for less that two minutes. I have seen an ENT through Mount Sinai before and was expecting that I would be given a full check up and wasn’t. I ended up having to go to Urgent care a couple days later because my tonsils are now inflamed and causing a sinus infection. I felt as though this doctor dismissed me without taking my concerns seriously and that the inflammation and sinus infection could’ve been avoid or pretreated had he actually cared about what I tried bringing to his attention.

Though I and Dr. Dan have spoken about issues I experienced from outside the scope of practice, he referred me to an organization that can help and cater to my needs when comes to hearing issues.
