He completed his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, and served as Chief of Urology at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He later became a Proctor at Intuitive Surgical and served as Chief of Robotic Surgery at Evans Army Community Hospital in Colorado Springs. In 2017, he established the first urology clinic in Castle Rock, Colorado, before joining Colorado Urology in 2021. Recognized for his excellence in patient care, Dr. Nelson received the American Urological Association’s “Young Urologist of the Year” award in 2013 and has consistently been ranked among the top urologists by Castle Connolly / 5280 Magazine in 2024, 2025, and 2026. He has also been ranked in the top 5th percentile on the Press Ganey Satisfaction Survey.
