Deepa Manjunath, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist and primary care physician at Mount Sinai. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, where she also served as a Chief Medical Resident and cared for patients in hospital, clinic, and home care settings. As a general internist, Dr. Manjunath believes that high-quality primary care is the foundation of our healthcare system and has the power to positively impact patients’ lives. She values a patient-centered approach to care and strives to partner with her patients to achieve their health goals. She is the daughter of South Asian immigrants and welcomes patients of diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as patients of all gender identities and sexual orientations. She evaluates and treats a wide range of medical conditions including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, anxiety, depression, women’s health concerns, and preventive care.

Dr. Manjunath actually took the time to throughly discuss my health, family history, and just who I am as a person (which other physicians have failed to do in the past). Wow! Dr. Manjunath did an AMAZING job! She’s so comprehensive and attentive. She listened carefully, gave detailed explanations and took the time to make sure I was comfortable, confident and understood. In 18 years this is the best doctor’s visit I’ve had. I’m so happy I found Dr. Deepa. For the past couple of years, I’ve been searching for a doctor that listens and treats my concerns with the importance I think they deserve. We discussed medical history, the medications I take, what’s working, what’s not, and how to move forward. She seemed to really care about what I had to say, and wanted to find the right path for me to take. It’s refreshing to have a conversation with a doctor, rather than being blindly directed. Also, as a heavier human, I’m always guilted by doctors with the old “we need to get those numbers down” scolding tone. I totally get that tone, and I’ve never been offended by it, per se, but I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to not be treated like it’s all my fault.

I saw Dr. Manjunath recently for an annual physical and had a fantastic experience! As a new patient, she kindly walked me through her general approach to routine check-ups and asked plenty of questions to get to know me, my medical history, and any concerns I have right from the beginning of the appointment instead of waiting until the end. She has a warm and welcoming demeanor, and as a queer person of color I felt extremely comfortable talking with her about my needs. I'm looking forward to having her as my PCP and would highly recommend her to anyone in search of a new physician.

I had no issues with the doctor but the nurse who drew my blood felt dangerous and unprofessional. I've never fainted from blood being drawn in my life and had eaten a lot that day. When the nurse stuck the needle in my arm it appeared she had the wrong angle and moved it while it was still in my arm, causing an excruciating amount of pain. So much so that it caused me to pass out, falling face first onto the floor. When I woke up, with a broken lip and nose, she started lecturing me about how it was my fault for not telling her I was prone to passing out (I never had before) and how I didn't eat enough that day. She then ripped the bandage off my arm (even though I told her not to), exposing the needle mark in my arm to prove that she did nothing wrong. She left the wound exposed so she could wait for the doctor to come in and show her as well. She cared only about being sued for medical malpractice rather than my health or wellbeing.

Honestly I was very surprised by how warm and welcoming Dr. Deepa was. I've seen a fair share of doctors and it's not often that I encounter doctors genuinely interested in getting to know their patients. My appointment didn't feel rushed at all and Dr. Deepa did a great job of explaining all the steps involved in the physical and answering my questions. Would 100% return! Also the receptionists were super friendly!

The front office staff were professional and warm. the office was extremely clean and pleasant. The doctor herself was one of the best experiences I’ve had with a PCP. Active listener, didn’t rush me, ordered all the tests I needed. I felt very heard by her and honestly hopeful. Additionally, the nurse who did my bloodwork was so kind and good at her job. Overall, would recommend to anyone else who has medical anxiety.
