About Dr. Derek Kram
Derek A. Kram, MD, FAAOS, is a considerate and skilled board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with extensive experience in orthopaedic care and sports medicine. At the Greater Washington Orthopaedic Group, PA, with three offices in Silver Spring, Germantown, and Rockville, Maryland, Dr. Kram offers a range of effective treatments, services, and procedures. He specializes in knee reconstruction, sports medicine, and arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder. He also has extensive experience in fracture care.
Dr. Kram graduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts in 1987 and Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1991. He finished his residency at the Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996 before completing a fellowship in knee reconstruction and sports medicine at the Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic in 1997. During his fellowship, he acted as assistant team doctor for the National Basketball Association’s Orlando Magic.
Ever learning and continuing his research and education, Dr. Kram has published multiple articles and made presentations in general orthopaedics and the surgical treatment of arthritis. He also co-authored a textbook on the rehabilitation and treatment of fractures. Dr. Kram is an active member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
With a special interest and passion for sports and sports medicine, Dr. Kram volunteers his time coaching his children's sports teams. He also earned a black belt in karate, competes in two softball leagues, and enjoys golf, skiing, and fitness activities.
