Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MD
Hi, I’m Docia Owusu a Nurse Practitioner committed to creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. I take a collaborative, person-centered approach, working with you to explore your goals and challenges at a pace that feels right for you. My aim is to help you build insight, and meaningful change. My approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and rooted in empathy, with care tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. I often use CBT, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness, along with motivational interviewing and solution-focused strategies to support practical, meaningful progress. I am open to seeing all kinds of mental health patients. I also support individuals managing stress, life transitions, and emotional regulation challenges. In my sessions, I aim to foster a supportive, welcoming environment where individuals feel safe, understood, and valued, no matter what they’re going through. My approach is collaborative and centered around each person's unique needs, meeting them where they are while encouraging growth at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable. I was drawn to mental healthcare because I believe emotional well-being is key to a fulfilling life. What drives me is helping people overcome challenges, build resilience, and find hope through compassionate care. I take a collaborative and flexible approach to goal setting, working with patients to identify what’s meaningful and realistic based on their current emotional and life circumstances. Together, we break down core concerns and values into small, achievable steps that support progress over time. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building trust. I’ll ask about your background, current concerns, and goals for care. Patients are welcome to share at their own pace. My focus is on creating a safe, supportive, and respectful space from the start and identifying their main need.
