About Dr. Dominick Congiusta

Dominick V. Congiusta, M.D., M.P.H. is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in surgical and non-surgical treatments of the hand and upper extremity, as well as peripheral nerve pathology and orthopaedic trauma throughout the body. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Visual Art at Fordham University. His interests in science, art, athletics, and service led to his pursuit of medicine and medical administration. He earned a Master in Public Health degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center before receiving his Medical degree (M.D.) from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He soon became deeply involved in surgical education, research, leadership, and community service, and was inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society and other academic honor societies. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he developed a strong interest in upper extremity surgery. His research has focused on upper limb trauma, surgical outcomes, fractures, peripheral nerve conditions, healthcare disparities, and risk assessment. He has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and received awards and grants recognizing his research, teaching, and academic excellence. He subsequently completed a combined Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at Yale University, training with both the Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery departments. His fellowship encompassed management of trauma, degenerative disease, peripheral nerve and microvascular reconstruction, endoscopy, brachial plexus injuries, replantation, and congenital conditions. Dr. Congiusta’s philosophy of care centers around a commitment to a thoughtful, empathetic, patient-centered approach while advancing education, research, and innovation in hand and upper extremity surgery.
