Dr. Don Wilhelmus, OD
Dr. Wilhelmus graduated in 1982 with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. He spent his first three years as an Optometrist in the United States Navy before moving to the Dallas area in 1985. Dr. Wilhelmus still holds rank of commander in the United States Navy Reserve. Dr. Wilhelmus' special interests are working with contact lenses, primary eye care, children, and low vision. Dr. Wilhelmus is a board certified optometrist who has been involved in Low Vision Therapy for over 35 years. Many eye doctors and blind rehabilitation specialists have trusted Dr. Wilhelmus by referring their patients with special vision needs. Dr. Wilhelmus is known nationally for his work in Low Vision and Blind Rehabilitation. Dr. Wilhelmus' community involvement includes the Chamber of Commerce and the Garland Rotary Club. He also is active in the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and the Northeast Texas Optometric Association. He and his family reside in Plano.
