About Dumisani Kambi-Shamba
I am an alumnus of Pacific College of Health Professions, where I completed a Master’s in Oriental Medicine, and I have served on multiple state and national acupuncture boards. My practice integrates acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and holistic therapies to address pain, sports injuries, chronic illness, fertility, and oncology support. Known for blending traditional Chinese medicine with modern functional care, I help patients uncover root causes and restore lasting balance.

Coverage and health care visits can be confusing and surprisingly unpleasant. I found Dumisani through ZocDoc when I saw he'd take my insurance and even though my insurance representatives weren't very helpful regarding finding in-network acupuncturists, he put me at ease with the whole process. His services were professional and effective for my condition, and his demeanor was caring and personable. He is a worldly, very experienced practitioner and I am very thankful for his help with my healing process.

He seemed like he could be a great acupuncturist but he made a comment that I did not like. Not inappropriate but maybe overstepped his bounds a bit. Lastly, I wish there was a way for them to put their forms online or on zocdoc.

Dumisani was pleasant and careful in explaining things to me about the appointment. I had an enjoyable and effective experience. However, although zocdoc had matched my insurance to his office and he made a copy of my card at the beginning of the session, he waited until after the session was over to tell me that the session would not be covered. Even though I made it clear that I am a student and only came to him because I thought it was covered, he made various excuses and I ended up paying the full price.

Dumisani is a really gifted acupuncturist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine. I started seeing him 3 years ago while I was healing from a series of foot surgeries. I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical about acupuncture going into the treatments, but I was in so much pain following my last surgery that I was open to anything that might offer some relief. There was quite a hefty questionnaire to fill out when I arrived, but it was well worth it. Dumisani took the time to speak with me about my overall health, and made me extremely comfortable. Three years later, my foot is pretty much back to normal, but I still see him regularly for any little aches and pains that creep up, as well as monthly treatments for general health and well-being. No matter how much pain or stress is weighing me down when I walk into his office, I always emerge an hour later feeling like I've been relaxing on a beach somewhere for a week. I highly recommend Dumisani to anyone interested in incorporating holistic medicine into their regular health regimen. He is a very caring, creative, and gifted healer.

My experience has been exceptional. I am frequently late to appointments, which for many doctors might be a real issue. Dumisani has always managed to fit me in. Dumisani provides excellent care and treats a patient's individual needs. I think what sets him apart is his tremendous wisdom and knowledge, which transcends just accupunture. If you are looking for a seasoned practioner- look no further and book that appt.

I had to stop seeing Dumisani because twice when I showed up for my scheduled appointments, his office was locked, and I had to go home. He almost never took me on time, and repeatedly misremembered and ignored things that I would tell him about my condition, and would not listen when I'd try to correct him. I have not been to his office in over 11 months, and have received countless phone calls, text messages, and emails from his office since asking that I come back, even though I've already asked that they stop contacting me.

Dumisani showed up about 15 minutes late and then made me wait almost another 50 minutes before sitting down with me - he seemed very unorganized but this could have just been a bad day as it was a Monday and he was getting back from a vacation. He was kind and patient but he seemed to ignore some of my concerns. He also failed to clearly explain the timing and physical requirement of the procedures he was about to perform (acupuncture). In addition he did not honor the prices he offered over the phone prior to making the appointment. I would not recommend him for any type of treatment.

I had a wonderful time in my first meeting and session with Dr. Kambi-Shamba. He's extremely knowledgable and engages in a truly holistic practice, attending to the entire body's needs and ailments. He is also a swell guy with a great demeanor, who exudes good energy. While my session was professional in its timeliness and manner, I was made to feel very relax and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

He is a highly professional acupuncturist that truly excels at his craft. I have personally received acupuncture treatment from different physicians over the last 20 years and so I know first hand when someone is effective.. Dr. Dumisani treated me for my lower back pain that was constant--within a few sessions my lower back was back to normal. He was precise with his treatment and the improvement was felt from the very first session. He is very personable and a good listener and I would highly recommend him for acupuncture treatment.

I like Dumisani, but his office is not run very professionally, which can be extremely frustrating. Three times in the past month, I have shown up for a midday appointment to find the door locked and no one in the office. I understand that--especially in New York--there are train delays, traffic troubles, etc, but all three times there was never even so much as a receptionist in the office to let me in. Twice, I waited around for several minutes and finally had to just leave.
When my appointments go as scheduled, they're relaxing and helpful, but the unreliability of the practice is a huge turn-off.
