Dr. Duy Tran is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. He received his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency training in general psychiatry at the University of Michigan. Dr. Tran aims to provide mental health care that helps patients live more fulfilling lives.
In his training, Dr. Tran gained extensive experience treating psychiatric disorders in diverse populations, including college students, LGBTQ+ individuals, perinatal women, veterans, and those with socioeconomic disadvantages. He has worked with experts on cases of treatment-resistant depression and provided consultations for patients considering procedural interventions, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and ketamine infusion therapy.
Although Dr. Tran's practice primarily focuses on medication management, he uses a holistic approach in developing individualized treatment plans. He typically incorporates elements of various psychotherapy modalities, including supportive, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), and insight-oriented therapy, in 30- or 45-minute follow-up visits. Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I’ve only had one appointment so far but Dr. Tran was a great listener. He showed up on time and listened to everything I had to say, then we worked on a plan to help me get better. He’s easy to reach via the patient portal and usually gets back within 24 hours. I’m excited to see how future appointments go.

My experience was great. I was able to set up everything prior to our meeting and he was prepared for the session. He took the full time to get to know my history and made suggestions without pushing me. He made the follow up appt with me at the end of our call.

Easy check-in process, visit was through telehealth. Dr. Tran was warm and friendly, and very comprehensive in his history-taking; he took his time to listen and understand my background and concerns. He also clearly communicated his plan and rationale. First intake takes about 45 mins. Have not had success with other psychiatrists, but am feeling very reassured and hopeful! Would recommend!

Dr. Tran was a great listener and able to understand my background and struggles with regards to my ADHD and recommended a course of action for me to take right away. I came in unsure of what to do next with my diagnosis and also struggling to manage the symptoms that I've dealt with for a long time and Dr. Tran talked to me about options I had and explained what would work best for me. Even after the appointment he was available to answer other questions I had asynchronously and I appreciate his ability to explain what would work best for me and what to do next.

Dr Tran was great at listening and seemed very knowledgeable and considerate of my symptoms. Overall I had no problems with the care I received. The only downside was that because this was through Talkiatry, I had to sign up for their Healow app to manage and access my video visit. Everything has to be done via the app too, since the office phone line seems to be constantly busy and will turn you away if they’re assisting other patients. The app works once you take time to explore it, but it’s quite clunky and not the best experience.
