About Dr. Elaine Sta-Iglesia
Elaine Elizabeth Sta-Iglesia is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a California board-certified licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She earned her Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, affiliated with the California Institute of Integral Studies. Before studying TCM, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis, and spent 10 years working with domestic and companion animals.
A San Francisco native and first-generation Filipino American, Elaine followed in the footsteps of her maternal grandmother Leonida, a manghihilot—an indigenous healer from the Philippines. Growing up, she witnessed her grandmother’s healing hands, inspiring her to continue her lineage’s tradition and join the healing arts.
A gentle, charismatic, and compassionate practitioner, Elaine’s patient-centered practice embraces a holistic approach to mind-body illness. She integrates modern practices while supporting transformative life changes. Elaine is passionate about promoting psycho-emotional well-being through the Eight Extraordinary Vessels approach, which reconnects people to their inner wisdom and authentic selves beyond negative thoughts, stubborn patterns, trauma, and emotional wounds. She values the psychological aspect of this approach for its deep interconnection that synthesizes healing within mind, body, and spirit.
Elaine specializes in pain management, trigger point acutherapy (dry needling), stress and anxiety, mood regulation, PMS, menstrual issues, and insomnia, focusing on wellness and prevention. She also has a clinical interest in digestive disorders. When needed, she incorporates cupping, guasha, moxibustion, and crystals/sound therapy into treatments. Her goal is to create a happy and peaceful environment for all her patients.

Dr. Elaine squeezed me in after I reached out to her complaining about my allergies flaring up. I was dealing with severe nasal congestion and coughing. After treatment my sinuses opened up, which made it a lot easier to breathe, and my lungs opened up, which allowed me to cough up the gunk that was lodged down there. I've been seeing Dr. Elaine for a couple of years and really appreciate her professionalism and her willingness to explain during each treatment what she's hoping to accomplish for each acupuncture needle she inserts.
