“My appointment with D. Elyse Galles, went great! I felt comfortable with her right away. She listened to everything I said and I truly felt heard. You don’t get that these days. We went through all my past experiences with medications and she asked all the right questions to get through the appointment without getting upset at all. I told her my illness and passed and current issues in a few minutes and she got it. She came up with multiple options to try with the benefit and possible negative outcomes. I went through many profiles and I picked her, I’m glad I did.!No regrets at all.. I felt like shetruly cared about me. I was happy with our appointment 100 percent. I finally got help I needed for so many years.Wish I did this sooner.
I tried finding local help and just got the run around and it months to be seen. I need help now not months from now.It took a day and a half to be seen by her in the convenience in my home. Thank you Dr. Elyse Galles!”

Getting to know Dr. Elyse Galles
My practice includes medication management of adults ages 18 and over. I have specialty training and research in college and student athlete mental health. I have a particular interest in working with young adults to build a healthy foundation to achieve their goals. In addition to medication management, my approach to mental health care involves addressing overall health and well-being, including eating habits, exercise, sleep-hygiene, cultivating healthy relationships, and finding meaning in our day to day life.
I have experience and specialty training in women's mental health, including perinatal mental health, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I am board certified and completed my psychiatry residency at University of California San Diego after attending medical school at the University of Iowa and undergraduate at Stanford University. I served as medical director at a residential treatment center in Malibu for young adults and I have worked as an outpatient psychiatrist at the Family Health Center of San Diego.
