About Dr. Emily Kuo
Dr. Emily Kuo is a board-certified primary care doctor (PCP) who recently joined Medical Arts clinics to offer comprehensive primary care to the downtown communities of New York City. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras and completed further training at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Kuo is an expert at diagnosing and treating common illnesses, managing chronic diseases, and providing preventative care services.
At Medical Arts clinics, Dr. Kuo works alongside other board-certified physicians specializing in fields such as Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Pain Management, Sleep Medicine, and Radiology, among others. All providers collaborate to deliver the highest quality care for patients. Dr. Kuo refers patients to specialists when further evaluation is needed.
Dr. Kuo and her team provide in-office disease screening using a full array of diagnostic tools, including MRI, X-ray, CT scan, general ultrasound, cardio and vascular studies, ECHO, event monitors, NCS, EEG, sleep studies, EVOX, PFT, and allergy testing. Most tests are available during patients' first visit at Medical Arts centers. In assessing and evaluating patients, Dr. Kuo effectively utilizes the services of her team physicians, with STAT (wet) results available in urgent situations.
During consultations, Dr. Kuo explains patients' conditions clearly and prepares individualized treatment plans. She also supports patients in making better health choices to promote lifelong well-being.

Waited an hour to see the doctor. 5 minutes into my visit I was asked to please go back to the waiting room for a few minutes because the previous patient was "insisting" on another test being done. When I saw the doctor she was very nice but ultimately not very helpful and kept forgetting things I had told her. Did not do any sort of physical examination, just asked me a few questions about my health. Office was fine but not super clean, and over 75 degrees. Overall a pretty uncomfortable experience.

My annual physical appointment was booked for 4:20pm and my vitals were not taken until 5:30pm. After my vitals were taken, for just three minutes, I was told to wait in the waiting room for a second time until the doctor called on me (which was around 5:45pm).
My appointment with the doctor lasted 10 minutes (being generous) and although she was sweet, it felt rushed. I was advised by this practice to fast for 8 hours for the blood work, however I was not informed that this facility did not have an on site Hemo lab to collect my blood, and was instructed to go to a Labcorps nearby. I looked up Labcorp and all facilities in NYC close at 5pm; it was already 6pm, meaning, I had fasted all day for no reason.
Staff and Doctor were nice but I would never recommend going to 14stMedical!! Horrendous wait time, and an overall poor lack of communication from this facility. A subpar experience at best.

I went to see the doctor for a chest pain, she scared me by imagining the worst case scenario and sent me to do too many tests (for exemple she shceduled 1 MRI + 1 XR and when i did the MRI the other doctor told me it was useless to do both)

This review is not for Dr. Kuo, who is a great doctor. Sadly, my experience with the clinic itself was beyond frustrating. I reached out multiple times regarding a prior Auth.
and received little to no response. I was initially told the authorization was sent to my insurance on 1/22. When I followed up because my insurance still had not received anything, I was then told by another employee that it was actually sent on 1/28. I was directed to email the clinical manager, Cat L., at a generic email address and was told I would receive a response within 2–3 hours. I never received a response. In addition, the office consistently fails to answer their phones, making it very difficult to reach anyone for assistance. However, when I emailed to request that my pending appointments be canceled, I received a prompt response confirming the cancellations yet my prior emails requesting a status update were ignored. The lack of communication/inconsistent information is extremely disappointing.

I never even saw the doctor I scheduled the appointment with. I went specifically for allergy testing, yet the visit was handled in a completely disorganized way. I was not told in advance that the allergist only works on Tuesdays, so I had to return a second time just to see the specialist. As a result, I was charged three separate times for what should have been a single course of care.
The waiting room was chaotic, with Family Feud blaring on the TV and loud music playing at the same time. It was stressful and completely inappropriate for a medical setting.
Billing was a nightmare. My card was charged repeatedly, and my insurance rejected the charges, leaving me unexpectedly out of pocket for services that should have been covered at a properly run medical practice.
I have hypertension that is normally well controlled with medication, yet my blood pressure spiked during both visits due to the stress of this office.
If zero stars were an option, that’s what I would give.
