I was helped early! All the staff was nice, and Dr. Lo actually listened to my concerns and came up with a plan to help.

She’s quick but thorough and listens to what you have to say. Honestly a wonderful doctor and I’m glad I visited her.

The GWMFA location at 2300 M St. NW is more convenient and efficient than the main building.
Verified patient
Dr. Lo was very friendly and very thorough. She provided a lot of guidance and insight.
Nice office, friendly receptionists. Dr. Lo is somewhat reserved, but very efficient.
Verified patient
Really friendly and nice, took her time with me, and basically didn’t have to wait!
I felt seen, heard and understood. Thank you for a great introductory visit.

I recently changed jobs and was looking for a PCP that was closer to home and my new job. I chose Dr. Lo because she had great reviews. my experience was terrible, she didn't listen to me at all... and was questioning every medicine I was on and the conditions that I was treating from my previous provider. I get that you need to establish care and ask questions for new patients but she was just so rude and condescending. I do not recommend her. hopefully shes since learned about bedside manner cause she does not have it at all.

Dr. Lo is so kind and thorough. The nursing staff is also very accommodating. The entire process was easy. All my question were answered, along with ensuring I was checking boxes I hadn’t considered.
This was an awful experience with Dr. Lo. She barely listened to me, completely ignored my concerns, and dismissed me within 5 minutes. I am a complex patient seen by this practice, but she didn’t even read my history. She suggested I reach out to another doctor, I was there in the first place because of ongoing problems and she didn’t even deal with them. I should have believed all other reviews, just overall a bad doctor.
Some people need a doctor who is more of a "friend." I do not look for that. "Bedside manner" is not important to me. Dr. Lo is knowledgeable, efficient, and values my input. She answers questions, is pleasant and interested, and keeps her focus on my health situation. I also value that if I say I believe I need a procedure or a treatment, she considers it and often refers me for it--further evidence that I am a partner in my health care.

I was late and even tho she was on a tight schedule she worked fast and efficiently and made sure I was set to get all the paperwork and tests I needed ready to be filled. I’ve seen her before and I like that she’s straightforward and a no nonsense person, she’s direct and I like that

Do to the pandemic, it was 14 months since I saw Dr. Lo. I had many tests, shingles shot, etc. to catch up on. She was aware of the specialty doctors I see and checked to make sure I was up to date with appointments with them. I had one main concern and she referred me to a specialist for a diagnosis. The lab is in the same building so was easy to take care of and I’ve already received all test results -within 28 hours of my appointment. Was very happy overall.

Dr. Emily Lo was unbelievably rude. I was shocked my her poor bedside manners. She did not introduce herself, listen to my concerns or answer questions. When I brought things to her attention, she brushed them off and minimized them. I was rushed the entire time and she spoke to me as though I were "lesser than" as opposed to equal or even human for that matter. She even yelled at the staff in my presence, which was very awkward to witness. I wanted to walk out of my appointment several times, but I stayed. I would not recommend Dr. Emily Lo to anyone. The staff here are amazing, but Dr. Emily Lo had me feeling very insignificant and small. I honestly felt like she couldn't have cared less about me if she tried. I can't stress how weirdly uncomfortable this appointment was. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but you don't treat people this way - especially those in need and coming to you for help. I will not return here for care, because I deserve better.
The nurse and other support staff were really nice and welcoming. Dr. Lo, however, was incredibly cold and seemed uninterested/in a hurry to get out. I didn’t feel comfortable at all, and I will not be returning.
I wouldn't recommend this. The doctor was not personable and didn't make any eye contact with me or speak directly to me through the whole appointment. She asked few questions about my history and didn't really validate my concerns.
This was my first visit with Dr. Lo and I am very happy to have her as my primary care. Very thorough, helpful and easy to talk to!

Very professional and patient!
Easy and enjoyable visit! Efficient visit, was seen within 15 minutes of arrival. Quick check-in, paperwork was not too burdensome. Good listener, thorough recommendations.
Verified patient
Dr. Lo was kind and friendly. She addressed my health concerns and ordered comprehensive labs. I was very pleased that my wait time to see her was less than 5 minutes.
Dr. Lo is friendly but very professional and in this initial visit she was very thorough, making sure to get baseline labs as well as recommending appropriate vaccinations. The whole team at this location is very friendly and the staff are great. I got two vaccinations and hardly noticed the needle pricks, then went downstairs to the phlebotomy lab and AGAIN hardly noticed the blood being drawn. I always look away, as it bothers me to see the needle go in, and only knew we were done when the phlebotomist put on the band-aid. All COVID precautions were taken and I highly recommend this location.

Dr. Lo has brushed off my health concerns multiple times. She frequently gives out recommendations to just monitor the symptoms to see if they get worse. I had went to another doctor for one of the concerns and they were able to fix the problem right away.
I feel she didn't care about my concerns, everytime I mentioned a concern she said she couldn't address it. For example I had a cough she said I had to make another appointment to address like really!!! I'm here now why not address it??? My entire appointment felt rushed.
Verified patient
Dr Lo and nurse were great! However, the office check-in was slow with technical issues. Also, the use of paper on medical forms is disappointing especially since I've been to GWFA before.
Verified patient
Dr Lo is super knowledgeable, efficient, professional and down to earth. I saw some of reviews complaining about her bedside manner, and no idea what they’re talking about. Everything from A to Z went perfectly. She is now my new Dr.!
She’s brilliant, with an approachable bedside manner. I felt very comfortable and she genuinely listened to and addressed my concerns.
Verified patient
Very efficient, thoughtful, and easy to talk to!

Dr. Lo is highly efficient and professional.
I dont think Dr. Lo is a bad doctor by any means. The reason I would not recommend her is due to the bedside mannerisms. Dr. Lo was dismissive and impatient. Hopefully it was just a bad day.
Dr. Lo was direct and to the point, but very respectful of me and never dismissive of my concerns. She was kind and made me feel welcome.
Verified patient
Horrible attitude, does NOT listen, jumps to conclusions that are NOT correct then cuts you off when you try to explain/correct her wrong conclusion. She rushed everything, didn't want to hear anything I had to say. I was very pleasant with her for the whole appointment until the end when I just couldn't take her snotty, dismissive attitude any more. Too bad she learned zero compassion or kindness in med school. She's ego-driven and uncaring. Kept saying "all doctors in this practice do it this way" which is laughable. I am back to square one establishing care with a PCP. She would be the last person on earth that I would consider, and I already know that she doesn't care. Avoid.
Dr. Lo was very friendly and informative, although, I felt as through my annual physical with her wasn’t as thorough as I would have liked.
I’m a new patient and recently moved from out-of-state. I appreciate how easy it was to make a first-time appointment with Dr. Lo’s office and how timely I was seen. The office staff was very pleasant and prompt, too. Dr. Lo did not rush and was thorough in our meeting. She asked about my interest in and comfort with certain tests before recommending them, and she did not pressure me to do anything that I felt wasn’t necessary. She seems like a wise and thoughtful practitioner.
Dr. Lo was terrific! Honest and helpful answers, empathetic about concerns. It’s great that so much lab work and testing can be done in the same building without an appointment, so if you have time you can get everything done in one shot!

One of the best doctors at GW

Dr. Lo was very professional and very knowledgeable. She explained all my treatment options with the associated pros and cons. This made it easy to understand and easy for me to make a decision.
Verified patient
Very attentive to my needs.

I was able to schedule appointment just a few days ahead, and I was seen almost immediately after checking in. The nurses were a kind and calm presence and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Lo was awesome, she listened to my concerns, gave me options, recommended plenty of in-network specialists. I plan to make her my PCP and will be back!
Verified patient
I was seen IMMEDIATELY after turning in my paperwork - I barely sat down! Dr. Lo was kind and efficient, patiently working with me through a hypochondriac concern and making me feel like the visit was not a waste of time, even though I felt embarrassed by my trivial concern. Will definitely be returning.
Easy to find the office in the M St building. Once I arrived and checked in, I was given a helpful sheet with information on parking and such. Helpful for new patients. The front desk staff were kind and helpful. Wait time was very short. Dr. Lo was friendly and professional. She was very detailed during intake and listened to all of my concerns. While the intake forms were not totally LGBTQ friendly, her care and bedside manner made up for it. Glad to find a good PCP in DC!
