I am a dual board certified psychiatric mental health and family nurse practitioner. I assist my patients to develop a plan of care that will assist them to become the best version of themselves on their mental wellness journey. I use a person-centered approach to treating the mental wellness needs of my patients. I provide holistic care options that include but are not limited to prescription medications, supplements, counseling, and alternative therapies. I have experience working with patients who have various diagnoses, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, and insomnia. I am good at adapting my communication style to the needs of the individual I am working with. I recognize my patients will have different needs as well as different levels of education, which may impact preferred communication and learning styles. As a support person to multiple family members with mental health and/or substance use disorders, I have always been passionate about my work in the mental health field. Having been a family member of a patient, I have an understanding of some of the many barriers that may interfere with a person receiving quality and timely mental health services. I take pride in helping patients overcome these barriers and find fulfillment in helping my patients achieve their best sense of self and mental well-being. I recognize patient goals are a very important and personal part of treatment. Goal prioritization is chosen by the patient and together we can develop a plan of care that best suits the needs and lifestyle of the patient. During the first session, patients can expect to go through a thorough medical and mental health history, including current and past diagnoses, current and previous treatment regimens, allergies, social/educational demographics, and areas of concern such as current acute or chronic symptoms.
