Getting to know Dr. Eric Wilson

Dr. Eric Wilson is a general adult psychiatrist with advanced training in the treatment of substance use disorders. He offers in-person services at his offices in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois. At least the initial session must be in person, but he is willing to do telehealth for subsequent visits. Dr. Wilson listens to his patients' concerns, thoroughly explains their conditions, and helps them pick the right treatment plan. He respects his patients' right to make their own decisions, and sees his role as helping them to make informed decisions, rather than to insist that his advice be followed. Dr. Wilson acquired his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed his psychiatric residency, as well as a fellowship in addiction psychiatry, at Northwestern University. He has been in private practice in Chicago and Evanston since 2007.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The initial visit will consist of a detailed psychiatric history being taken. In most cases, a diagnosis and treatment plan can be made at the first visit, in some cases a second visit may be required.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $400 for 75 minutes
Ongoing session: $175 for 20 minutes
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

I am in network with BCBS (PPO plans only) and with Northwestern University student health insurance. For BCBS patients, I will file the claim; there will be no charge to you until BCBS processes it and tells me whether you owe a copay and/or deductable (typically 4-6 weeks). For patients with other insurance, you will need to pay the out of pocket rate at the time of the visit, and I can supply you with a receipt you can use to request reimbursement from your insurer.

The doctor was not aware of my appointment and could not see me. To be fair, I scheduled the appointment on short notice. I'm not sure whether Zocdoc or the doctor is more responsible for the mix-up.
Yes excellent I highly recommend

I had a video visit with this doctor, and he never saw me. I waited for 20 minutes before my tablet was at 2 percent. I then switched to my phone, so I could charge my tablet. Since I didn't want to lose my appointment, I stayed in the waiting room while I signed in on my phone. Once I was in the video visit waiting room ,my tablet died. The good part was I was able to stay in the waiting room, while switching devices. I ended up waiting another 10 minutes. Since it was a video visit, it drained the battery on my phone as well. In conclusion, I waited for 30 minutes for a video visit, before I realized that he wasn't going to show. Noone called me, emailed me, text me, nothing. I hope the Dr. Sees this, because I expect him to offer a refund. This was yesterday, August 8th at 5:15pm. M.S
