I am a veteran who just got out of the military less than a year ago after serving for nine years. I am one of the unlucky veterans that has been waiting for my disability to be approved for over a year; that means no health insurance, medical care, disability assistance, or medication. I suffer with multiple illnesses from PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety attacks, ADD and insomnia. All of my family is in Texas, I work full time and go to school full time, so I am up here alone. I found a therapist that I love and went through 2 psychiatrists before meeting Dr. C. I made a commitment to getting better mentally, for the sake of my future. I saved a lot of money (for a veteran, which isn't much) so that I can put my all into getting mentally healthy. I never new the effect that the mind could have on your body (for me, nausea, lack of sleep, nightmares and flashbacks, etc.). This was a decision that I had to make. My appts was the absolutely amazing. After nine years, my concept is if you show up on time, you are late. After my time was up (i'm always staring at my watch), she refused to let me leave. TIme wasn't a factor for her at that moment. Every appt was the same way. Instead of treating you like a second class citizen, she treats you like a human. She wants to bring out the best in everyone and believes that failing is not an option. I eat peanut butter sandwiches for most meals, and have rid of everything that I could because meeting with her and my therapist were the highlights of my weeks; and although I can no longer afford the appts, it makes me sad that I have to find another option for help. Like I said before, she is the third doctor I have seen and I am not looking forward to finding a new one. Unfortunately for me, she set the standard too high for any doctor to compare to her commitment and care. I still have ways to go to get better, but I got a lot out of our appts. Any separating veteran I know in the area I will DEFINITELY refer to her. So if you chose her, be prepared to be wowed. E.E.G. United States veteran "hooyah"
