Binal Kiran Maharaja,
I definitely appreciate the fact that she made me feel like I was heard and understood. I think she made recommendations that will improve my life for the better. I trust her judgment and look forward to working with her in the future. I will strongly recommend her to anyone looking for an outpatient psychiatrist.
I understand why some people were not happy with their experience. I filled out a bunch of surveys and forms and when I sat down with the doctor he immediately told me what I had. No he did not listen to me very well, just asked me questions and did jump in on things I was saying. I'm not sure I was diagnosed correctly but the medications and therapy he has prescribed do seem to help. He does seem to care and is a nice guy, don't expect to be there more than 20 minutes.
I was extremely nervous to actually go in for my first appointment. It is something I’ve wanted to do for years but never had the courage to go through with it. Not knowing what to expect or really what to do Dr. Rao guided the session well and made me feel at ease. He is knowledgeable, understanding, and compassionate.
Concise, to the point, follows up on information you’ve shared previously (like my self-diagnosed carpal tunnel haha). He is open to listening to your concerns, but it’s important for a patient to give the same courtesy. As an RN, this is a concept I’m already very familiar with and appreciate this sort of reciprocity with my patients and their families. I only say this because the few negative comments regarding Dr Kaegi seem to do with not getting the exact medications ordered by a previous doctor or not understanding why he may be conservative with certain meds. I would assume this is especially true in patients previously receiving or requesting more than one controlled substance in different drug classes, particularly in new patients he is not yet familiar with. It’s completely understandable for a patient to be concerned with their meds which had been working for them to be changed in some way and the effect it could undoubtedly have. But it’d be irresponsible for a provider to blindly trust the judgement of another, as many providers have been entirely too liberal and patients have abused this process. I don’t say this to make you happy with Dr. Kaegi’s conclusions, rather to hopefully make one a little more empathetic to his position.
