Dr. Welch is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas and completed residency training in dermatology at the University of California-Irvine. She received additional Mohs surgical fellowship training at Yale University in Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstruction for skin cancers. After serving on the dermatology faculty at Yale University and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she specialized in treating skin cancers as well as cosmetic dermatology and laser procedures, she returned to Colorado in 2008 to join Denver Dermatology Consultants. Dr. Welch is an assistant clinical professor for the dermatology department at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She also serves as an officer on the executive board of the Colorado Dermatologic Society. Originally from Ithaca, New York, Dr. Welch grew up in Texas and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, studying chemistry, biology, and math. Dr. Welch serves as a scientific advisor to acne product and sunscreen manufacturers and is the author of several scientific papers and medical textbook chapters on dermatologic subjects, and frequently serves as a speaker at scientific meetings in her field. She has been quoted in many newspapers and magazines, such as Cosmopolitan, Women's Health, Marie Claire, Health, Cooking Light, the Dallas Morning News, WebMD, and CNN. Dr. Welch strives to provide her patients with the highest level of expertise and care she would like her own family members to receive, whether regarding medical, surgical, or cosmetic issues. She enjoys reading and enjoying all of the opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation afforded by the beautiful environment in Colorado with her husband and their dog (while wearing sunscreen, of course!)
